01 4runner 4wd not working

01 4runner 4wd won't engage. Light blinks. Started messing around with it, leaning towards speed sensor on trans. Cruise control is not working also. Does anyone have specs for testing this on 01. The fsm I downloaded seems to be for another year...not same description talks about three terminals 01 only has two, says to spin shaft and measure voltage...this seems more like a magnetic sensor or something.

Transfer case actuator not engaging but maybe because of this sensor or one of the switches on actuator. Fsm says to test actuator using heater main relay. I've seen on here where people test with 12v source. Why use relay?

Not many good mechanics or dealerships around here to take it to. All they will do is throw parts at it. Hell, I can do that. Been down that road before...expensive and frustrating. Want try and find actual problem b4 fixing.

Thanks for any help.

'01-'02 4Runner 4wd systems are setup bit differently than '96-'00 4Runners...thus pay close attention to the posts concerning your correct year 4Runner in the above thread.
