Looks like I found a way to rebuild & improve my busted Idler arm as opposed to replacing it. I'm going to machine some bronze bushings for the shaft to replace the problematic plastic bushings! Score!

Been doing a bunch of reading on Marlin's website about a drivetrain lift. 1 thing that worries me out on the trails & esspecially in the rocks is how low my cross member & fuel tank hang down under the truck. The drive trainlift is basically a body lift followed by some spacers that go between your motor mounts & frame to lift the motor back up to the body & either a Bud Built or homemade crossmember that lift your trans & transfer case & finally a 7 deg. shim plate on the rear axle to correct the driveshaft angle. Then you remount your fuel tank higher up between the frame rails. It sounds like alot of work, but I can take my time with it & make most of the parts myself. Probablly won't happen for awhile, but I have decided that I really want to do it. Just somethng to look for in the future.

My goal is to have them done before you start your engine for the first time....so that means I still have plenty of time. LOL.

Looks like my idler arm is too busted for me to fix it, Guess I am going to have to buy a new one after all. Still plan on disassembling it & putting bronze bushings in before I install the new one.

No luck finding anything for this truck in any of the local yards. Wonder if the same arm was used on any other Toyota trucks??

Thanks 92, that is a much nicer price than what I can get at Napa! I will order one soon, never bought anything of off e-bay, do I need an e-bay account or anything special? I don't even have a pay-pal even though I should, hopefully I can just pay with plastic.

The best thing to do is create a PayPal and Ebay account.

Advanced Auto has them for $50.00
