Well been awhile since I posted on this thread, The Toyota took a wild turn. I found out me and my wifes gonna have a baby in June, so I decided to turn this yota back into a DD. The way I work weekends and 60hrs a week I cant find the time to wheel like I want to. Ill get me another trail rig eventually. Right now this is all I got until I find me the 4 door truck im lookin for.
First thing was get rid of the 37s and put on some mismatched 31s I had. Don't have any pics of when I first done this there on my old phone. Last chance on 37s-
Then I cut off the slides and sold them, and put on new inner and outter tie rod ends, idler arm and pitman arm. I still need to remove the add a leaf out back, the bj spacers, and the body lift from the cab. Also need to do BJs and wheels bearings and shocks.
Got a 4runner front clip and put the fenders on. Still gotta put on the front bumper
Dug in the scrap bin at work and got the materials to build a flatbed. The main frame is 3x1.25" channel with 3 pieces of the same channel across to hit the body mounts, and a piece of 1/4" 1x1" angle to hit the last body mount. Headache rack made out of the same channel. Deck is made form 11 gauge steel which is about 1/8" thick. The channel weighs 4.1lbs/foot and the deck weighs 4.1lbs/sqft. So the whole bed weighs between 395-405lbs. I scraped the old bed and minus tailgate and cut fenders it weighed 250lbs. But I still cant tell a difference as far as driving it. As a matter fact from my research a flatbed adds 26-32HP. I got the outside main frame ends cut to a 45 degree angle at work. With help of a few buddies, we stick welded everything. Still like a piece of channel across headache rack and more 11gauge to cover the back of the cab. Also thinking about lowering the piece across the top but I hadn't made up my mind yet. Still gotta bend me some stake pockets at work so I can put a 2x6 around it. Still need to mount filler neck to. Also got to paint it. I wanted a bed I could work off of and haul the general stuff you haul with a beater, so this will work for me. Plus, I got $36 in the materials, and about $35 in cutting wheels, grindin wheels and welding rods.
Old bed off
Deck of flat bed before mounting it
headache rack mock up. Guy doing the measuring is the mathematician of us 3. Guy watching is the muscle
Me tacking the deck on, muscle doin some grinding
Me in an awkward but must be done that way team work moment
Finished
That's all for now, gonna take the bed off Saturday and paint it. Then I need to paint the cab again and paint the wheels all the same color. There gonna be primer gray.

Painted it a little while ago. Used Krylon roll on paint on the deck after a halfway layer of spray paint. Then I sprayed underneath it and then used Permatex undercoating. Decided Im gonna cut the piece across the top of the headache rack off and lower it even with the top of the back window after I take the body lift off the cab. Then put me a piece of channel across the bottom of the window. I got some more 11 gauge to put from the top of the deck to the bottom of the window, and need to get expanded metal to go across the window. Got my stake pockets made at work, gonna be 4 down each side and 2 across the back. The light brackets in the pics are temporary until I can recess them into a piece off 11 gauge. Trying to wait til I can find a hitch before I make that.

Haha thanks guys. To be honest I'm really not sure what they are. I'm thinkin good year wranglers maybe. The wheels e actually Nissan wheels. Gonna pick up a set of 17" fj steelies next week. Gonna get em powder painted desert tan at work sometime after I paint the cab camo. It's just my beater dd huntin truck. She's not pretty but it works. Got me a 98 x cab chevy project the other day soon as I get it on the road I'll finish the yota. Got a ton of parts piled up just not installed.

You mean a pic next to my old 31s and steelies? I don't know now if I'm gonna keep these as the tires r to big for me. I thought they was closer to a 30 but there actually about a 32.2" tire. I could just get smaller tires for these wheels but I'm afraid it'll look kinda goofy. But man these bigger wheels really make the ride better and I'm sure the tires help to even though try don't got much tread.

Hauling all the lumber and sheet rock, mud, insulation etc to finish our basement back last year.
Little update on the truck. Bought a new set of 235/75/15 kenda klever mud terrains back in March, still ain't had them on the road yet because I was waiting til I done some front end work.
Over the last 2 weeks I've put a lot of work into it. No pics during installation of new parts, nothing everyone on here ain't seen.
New upper and lower ball joints
New wheel bearings and seals
New shocks
One new cv joint
New spindle bushings and oil seal
New rotors
New calipers
New pad
New stainless braided brake hoses
New brake shoes
Removed bj spacers
Removed add a leaf
Still need to bleed brakes and grease everything then I'll post pics. Looks like I'm gonna have some clearance issues on my flatbed after taking the add a leaf out. So I got that to figure out.

I had broke my key off in my ignition cylinder last year, so a number 2 craftsman has been my key for awhile. Finally bought a used one, a good solid red passenger door, and a good solid burgundy drivers door and handles locks to match the ignition. The bottoms of my doors are SHOT. Gonna put these and rocker panels on sometime soon when I get a chance. The day after I bought all the new suspension/front ends parts for this truck, friggin $450 worth, the trans went out in my 98 chevy. 270k mi so I can't complain. Pulled it and sent it to get rebuilt and add a shift kit. Got it back 3 days ago so I'm gonna put it in Tuesday, then hopefully get my doors on the yota.

Got some 1/4"x2" flat bar from work and bent it on the press. Gonna weld this around the outside of the bed against the stake pockets. Then I'll have tie down points around the entire diameter of the bed. Also took some 1/4"x1.5" angle and filled in the area from the top of the hitch to bottom bed and welded 11g to it. Like this \____/. I'll have pics of that later. Little embarrassing though, didn't realize it but the main frame rails of my deck warped a little when we built it, so the bed is 3/8" to the passenger side more than the other😔. Which threw the angle off from the corner of bed to hitch. Yes, I could have pulled the bed off and fixed it properly, but 3/8" is tolerance at my house. Getting a 1" deep tag box made at work, and the lights will be flush mount. Marker lights will be down the sides of Bed with signals. Stay tuned pics later
