I will probably take it apart and paint it come summer. Not too worried about the bare aluminum for right now.

The wood itself seems to be in really good shape considering I think it is not pressure treated. Tailgate panel seems a little warped though.

Pics will come, but my old bed is still in the way and it's snowing lol.

snowing again here after about a 2hr respite. was going to do some running around with the kids but may be reconsidering.

so maybe some good sanding with my belt sander and some deck sealer and you'll be in good shape.

this summer your truck gets painted. i don't care what you say. i have a huge yard and we can park it far away from everything and spray it .

ok got some more photos for ya. Still got to wire up the passenger side lights yet. Pay no attention to that gas filler either. The one you see is not hooked up. Not sure if I am gonna use that and extend what I am using now or just keep it that way as it's tucked under there pretty good.

Also notice my tail pipe, dang that thing looks awfully low now haha. That just goes to show how much higher the "bumper" sits now than it did before. Right where the reverse lights are the the very end of the frame which is exactly the same height my homemade bumper was. Since the truck is obviously not lifted I doubt the height is gonna be an issue comes inspection time as I don't believe they will even check it.

One issue I may or may not have is the fact this is a little narrower than what I had on before and the 31X10.50's are a little outside of the bed rails. And will most likely face the same issue of my compression travel and tire clearance issues when off-roading. I got till at least spring to figure out what I am gonna do about that. I know my springs are somewhat flat and there is no bump stops there either. Which I am sure is part of the problem.

Naw man serious,... you got some skills and seem to be a helpful person (You got a Friend in PA type-'o-guy). Thanks for the reading. The '92 Toy thread was pretty cool with you adjusting that dude's engine, etc. Wish you were local! LOL

Just so you now that new bed I DID NOT build.

The only real mods to the truck are the manual to power steering swap, dual diaphragm booster and 1" master cyl, weber carb, downey header (which was already on the truck when I bought it) and the bed. And maybe the exhaust, but all I did was select the components, an exhaust shop put them on. I don't count the 31's or the engine rebuild I did myself which wasn't covered in any threads.

Oh I forgot the upgraded wiring harness for the headlights and fog lights.

Mine came factory with manual steering. This truck was about as base model as you can get. I am sure there were years before and after this truck that came with power steering.

no, I am most likely gonna go with the OME 2" leaf springs. This thing is never gonna see anything bigger than a 33" tire nor will it be getting a bracket lift.

I agree 100%, also I will not have to ratchet strap almost everything down in it. lol.

I wish I had a line on a cheap spare tire mount though. Also still have to find out if my tool box is gonna fit in there or not.

So far the only bulb that doesn't seem to work right now is the lic plate light. Have not done the passenger side lights yet however.

Oh and the LED tails are real cheap quality the drivers side seems like it has a loose wire or something. fixed it somewhat by taping the wires a little tighter where they go into the light housing.

The smaller round lights are not much better either.

But I am not complaining.

Some of that wood I think is gonna be used to make myself a belly plate. I think I can use some of it for a diff drop and BJ spacers as well as some lift blocks for the leaf springs.

Looks like the rear end of a quarter-fly or something, sweet!
Don't forget about tacking that license plate,... PA only has the one in the back right?

yeah, only 1 required, there is a bracket for the lic plate I have to put back on, it was riveted I drilled the rivet out so I can bolt it in and make it removable for off-road purposes.

this is what the original owner did with the lic plate:
