Wondering if anyone can help me with a transmission only operating in reverse and what feels like 1st gear. I recently bought a 93 4runner with a blown head gasket so I never verified proper operation of the transmission before I repaired the head gaskets. I just finished the repairs to find the transmission will only operate in reverse and the same gear whether I manually shift into L, 2 or D. I have double checked all cable connections and don't see anything I might have left loose. Wondering if anyone has had shift solenoids fail causing this condition or can think of something I might need to reset or adjust after having all the throttle cable off.
