Tbennett13's 1987 Pickup Build-Up Thread
Hello everyone!
I picked this bad boy up for 600$ and all it "needed" was a battery to get going, well that was a kind of true story. So got the battery in, put some air in the tires, new gas, and some starter fluid in it and it ran for about 30 seconds then would just die. I ran it some cycled out some of the old gas that had been sitting there for 6 years and it will only stay runnnig with the pedal at about 1/2 throttle. so my guess is a new fuel pump?
Oh yeah and I just couldnt resist ripping out the old rusted and shot IFS on its first day at its new home... well I attempted to.
Plans with this bad boy are:
SAS with yota axles front and rear
37's?
would love to go coilovers and 4-link in the rear but just bought my first house and its a little out of my budget.
I havent decided it I am going to use a SAS kit or attempt to make the parts my self.
First things on my to-do list with this truck is get rid of the horrible "camo" red, green, brown paint on the truck with the custom leafs and redneck jibberish painted on the side. and get rid of the true duals with two stacks and mufflers coming out the bed of the truck

Heres how far I got with taking out the IFS yesterday. got the LCA unbolted, everything unbolted from the upper A arm. and still it wouldnt come out. the axle shaft should just slide out with the LCA correct? and the hubs aswell should come off when unbolted?
here are some pics of the rusted carnage
and tips, pointers or advice is greatly appreciated.
