So I took a quick lap around the off-road triathlon course this morning... 1/2 mile swim, 12.4 mile bike, 3.2 mile run...I was sweaty after... so I showered with my OBHS in the parking lot... I got more than a few curious onlookers. Thankfully I still had my suit on.

*Sigh* I never thought I would say this (actually, that's a lie, I knew it was coming).... Does anyone know of a 5vze equipped vehicle in need of parting out somewhere in CA?

I'm bored, and want to rebuild something when I move. I need pretty much everything as I'm going to swap it into this runner. I LOVE this engine, but I want a supercharged beast under the hood to tow my new boat locally. For longer trips I have a Tahoe, but locally, this thing would be fine with a bigger motor.

Go ahead... I know, you all told me so.

um, told ya so?

haha, naw. you have one of the best 3.0's on here (imo), so there's no doubt in my mind that you'll have another nice engine in there soon enough

Wow, thanks man! That's a huge compliment considering all the awesome rigs on here.

On the 3.4 there are a few things that I really want...

1. I want to rebuild it. Not take it somewhere, order it, or pay someone. I want to do the rebuild. Yeah, I'll take parts to be machined, but I want to do all the work on them. This is something that has been on my "to-do list" for years.

2. I want to do the swap. Again, I want to push myself to see what I'm capable of. I figure there are enough people on this board that have done the swap that can help me along the way. Not to mention, I know this 3.0 pretty darn well, I want to know the 3.4 even better.

3. It has to be clean. I want this to look factory installed. I hate body lifts, and I hate hood scoops. So I've gotta do some research.

I *MIGHT* think about SAS down the road.

Thanks guys! It's seriously nice to see that other people appreciate the time and effort I put into this truck as well. I am still very happy with this 3.0, but it just doesn't have the towing power I need. I will say that side by side with a stock 3.0, there is significantly more power coming from this engine. I will be keeping it, and possibly putting it in another truck in the works. For those of you thinking of either rebuilding the 3.0, or upgrading to the 3.4, the route I went will work for 90% of you. There will still be that 10% that want to haul 4 people, 2 dogs, and 500lbs of bags towing a 4000lb trailer at 90mph that will need the 3.4L (I fit there now.)

I am now researching all possible power increases in the 3.4. If I'm going to do it, I'm going to do it right, and it's not going to be stock.

Is that your PA-18 in the photo next to your truck? Or your C180 in the water? Cause those are some pretty awesome offroad vehicles right there.

Well, go take a look at D.O.A engines... I didn't order from them
Smart guy. I got burned by DOA back in the day when he was working out of Long Beach. Anyway, when you move down here you won't have any trouble finding a 5VZ-FE to rebuild.

Yes to both. PA-18 is now gone. Sold last week. C180 is in the shop getting a 540 in it.

Yeah I heard bad things about doa. That's why I didn't go with them. I'm excited for the 5vzfe

Original. Turbo takes away reliability. That's the last thing I want when I'm 200 miles from the nearest town.
