Stuck headbolt

Well, I was replacing my headgasket and I rounded off one of the bolts. There are no corners left and after trying a six point socket, filing down the flats to make them flat again, and forcing the next size down over the bolt I have run out of ideas. I worked at it for hours and gave up.
Any suggestions would be helpful. I would hate to be so close to fixing this and cannot get any further.

im assuming you have not replaced the gasket yet.

they make stripped bolt extractors but odds are it wont work for you. when i did mine i had one that took the 36" breaker bar and me standing in the engine bay foot on the firewall with an extension bar on the end of that to remove it. you may have to mask off the rest of the head and cut it off with an angle grinder. after the head is removed smack the rest of the bolt square on top with the BFH a few six times and use a couple pair of vice grips to turn it out. if still no go try heat and cold cycling than vice grips and BFH again

Vice-Grips on the bolt head might get it, after you smak it with a hammer a couple times.

Worst comes to worst, grind, or torch the bolt head off and pull the head off the bolt stem with a come-along or hoist. Then, you can deal with the stub that remains in the block.

Heat! Heat the metal around it up good with a torch, mapp preferable but propane will work. Once hot take a candle and stick it over the bolt and let it melt. Try and get the wax into the threads. Then let cool.

Then get a hand impact driver and the socket that best fits it and go to town. Everything can be had at home depot for about 50 bucks.
