the carrier bent at the mount for the spare. I'll have to get a few snap shots before I cut it off. I used a gusset below it, and the gusset looks fine, but the square box tube I used (1-1/2" box with 1/8" wall IIRC) got a good crinkle in it. I have a video I need to upload which shows a gnarly impact to it.

Speaking of Clouds.... Had a good view of them there for a minute, and looks like you might have even kissed one or two of them! Lol. Great stuff! I'm always gotten exhilarated by those off camber fire trenches and run off and so forth... But I hate them! Lol. They are a part of every trip, I'm just exaggerating, but I always feel so much more in control going over 4' boulders, than I do in a washed out trench. Hahaha. Great stuff man!

I'm guessing you have been to the 4WU site, and the forums?
A few years ago when I was researching link systems for my SAS I kept learning more and more about what makes a good link system. 4WU is the only system that focuses on geometry to give you a rig that can be driven on and offroad with predictability. I DD my truck and have gotten her up to 80mph on hwy with confidence. Offroad, we'll, my rig is way more capable then my abilities. Geometry is everything, triangulation, link length, angle and location.
Comb the Internet and try to find a bad review or upset customer, I've never seen one.
The owner, Brian, is a super guy. His customer service is second to none and his kits are unparalleled in their craftsmanship. You won't be disappointed.

Nice! Are you getting the quarters from toyota fiberglass.com? If so which ones, the stock quarters, 3" flared or the high clearance? I noticed they have a 9" bobbed version as well.

Nope just getting the boring stock sides. I don't like the high clearance wheel opening shapes. i do like the 3" flare look, but I already have the fiberglass fenders that are not the flare type. I'll just end up throwing on some flares to give me wheel coverage.

Right on. If I end up losing the never ending battle with rust (which seems inevitable) I think I would go the same route as you with glass sides. I'm not sure which ones I'd pick, I like the flared ones for tire coverage, but it's hard to mess with the timeless look of the stock quarters. Are you planning to do a right up? It would be sweet to have a detailed thread to look back on when the rest of us following in your foot steps!

Redcloud is FUN dirt trails with a few obstacles. A fully stock vehicle could do 99% of the trails with zero possibility of body damage. Unless you are like me and decide that you want to go up a very step creek bank and drag the spare tire smashing the tailgate and tweaking the tire carrier. There are a bunch of videos online for RCOR (redcloud offroad).
Last year I wheeled exclusively at Cove during the Big Dog events, just because some other friends were going, and timing was right. The camping facilities at Cove Campground are really great, they even have available hot showers and bathrooms. And you can wheel after dark, but I think there is a curfew. I'd like to get back to Rausch this year hopefully after a few more mods are finished.

Today I ordered some ToyotaFiberglass 1/4 panels....no more rust!
Now I have a reason to mount my fiberglass front fenders I've had for a few years.....maybe I switch my truck to white.....hmmmm.

I like working on the truck, I like the process of building and fabbing. I don't mind doing general maintenance, but I absolutely cannot stand putting effort into something like fixing rust. it will come back, just a matter of time.
Also, in recent months my fly-bye-night image hosting company i was using have decided to not work. After countless emails, they are not responding. So I am slowly but surely going thru the process of fixing all the bad image links in my thread. I myself hate going to a thread and none of the image links work or are just broken. I have fixed 40 pages so far, with 52 to go. I am dreading the SAS section of my build....there were far more images then when I started.

Thanks Robb, and yes you remember correctly we did have a discussion about the image links being broken. We went back and forth trying different stuff, but it was ultimately the image host.
