RAD4Runner's 1986 4Runner dlx Build-up

Thanks for the inputs, Gevo!
Safelite happens To have a very minimal rubber trim. It just covers edge of glass, and it has a fairly flexible "wing" to span between glass and body. I may just get that. After installation I can simply lift/flexi it up/open and squeeze silicone under.
Funny... the gentleman who bought my steel/chrome/gold rims has a second gen with the SR5 rims; we could have simply traded - LOL!
Speaking of nature, it's raining lightly in San Diego; We're backpacking this weekend. Looking forward to waking up in a snow-covered tent.

Back to the Future...
I was there in 1986. Ruby Tuesday could have been there, too. But we never met, and even if we did I could never have driven her; I was a recruit in bootcamp without a driver's license - LOL!
It's soo cool that at Liberty Station, they kept the barracks/building numbers from he Naval Training Center days.
at Liberty Station (formerly Naval training Center San Diego).

I have been there. I went to Great Lakes for my boot camp. Looking back time flies so quickly. Sometimes I wish I would of stayed in. I do miss the traveling and all the fun things that happened back then. It doesn't sound like it is now then when we were in. I had some that tried to talk me out of going and sure glad I didn't let them. Great times!!!!
I always wanted to go back and see my first ship, I was on, the USS Okinawa LPH3, I just found out that they did a SINK EX on it, gonna have to get my scuba license to see it now. The Peleliu is still out there, they have done some changes on it from recent pics.

What is the purpose of the screw on clips that go near the base of the windshield? Mine doesn't have anything in those holes but I've been wondering if whatever goes there is for supporting that side of the cowl panel.

Chefyota may have screen. If not I'll McGyver one. Any plastic grill would do (it's hidden, anyway.
They hold the chrome trim, and I believe holds cowl cover in proper position. I should have saved them for latter. I'll just put some plastic or foam stand-off there.

Also, were you saying that you had some windshield trim? I need the passenger side vertical one and top corner. I might have the corner. I know you can't be here Saturday but is there anyway you can just let me know if you have it?

PS, I also have your cold start injector times which here and I apologize that I haven't sent it yet. I keep forgetting and I walked past it about once every few days. Lol. I have tons of stuff to ship out of this car and my own, and I am really having a hard time with that because I'm so overwhelmed and don't have any time. But as soon as I go to the post office I can send all of those things. make sure you remember and let me know on anything else because it's going fast.

Hey Mark,
Cool.
Oh no! I already scrapped them. Sorry, we live in small place and I can't stand having too many things; hard to find things I need. No rush on the screen and CSI timer. I'll be out of country Mar11-Apr13. However, if you can mail them during that time, pls let me know how much I woe you, I'll send via paypal. TIA

I have never seen a screen for the area that you have markd in yellow. Just for the inside holes. Slacker sells a smoothie cowl for $100 that covers all of that. When I paint my 85 I am planning on one of those.
I have a hard time finding the screens and not all of them have the fine mesh screen on them. Looks like they came with no screen, some with a screen and the best ones had them mesh screen on it.
I think I posted a kit on Marks Ruby thread for a kit that I can get thru my local windshield shop. I will see if I can find it later today.
The one I prefer.

Yes, Terry. I got that type on two openings. Does not make sense putting them on two and leaving third open. All the leaves then fall into driver side opening. I plan to put screen right under the grille of cowl cover, instead. That will stop leaves from entering cowl in the first place, and those that land over grill will just get blown away. The long slots is a retarded design.

Did they make the square screen or is this one you will have to make?
Just read on another thread about the step getting to the injectors. You still looking for that? I have a entire assembly off that I can do a more in depth picture for later this week if you want me to. The Plenum has to come off, but not the lower part on the actual intake. I think you have my number, and I can step you over the phone if you like. Wednesday-Friday is best for me. If you are going to pull the injectors, have a seal kit ready. http://www.ebay.com/itm/270921195123...S:3160&vxp=mtr
Yours may still be good but if not, they get brittle. You dont need to change the screens. Local parts stores have the seal kit for about $4 each or $16 total. This kit comes with the screens.

All the online diagrams by toyota doesn't show anything over those holes. I will check my 86 4Runner if it had the screen there.

Thanks lot, Terry. Don't need it right now. Going on vacation next week so won't have time to work on it.
However, I'd like to know exactly what injectors look like on the 1986 22RE. When I access mine, IF they're stock Toyota I'll have them cleaned. IF after-market, I may just buy new after-market ones.
Will stay in touch
Regards,
Ray

Hope you have a great vacation. They dont last long so enjoy every minute of it. I meant to say Thanks for the Anniversary Greeting in my earlier post . Thanks, I appreciate it. I am really fortunate.
I want to get with you when you have a chance and it is warmer and do you starter upgrade when you get a chance.
I have seen different color aftermarket injectors but the orginal ones will be the white square ones. The red ones are 88 an newer. You can use 85-87 as they are interchangeable.

Would definitely be glad to help you with the starter relay re-wire. We can do it over the phone if needed.
Best regards to you and our Yota Bros!

This would have been great for fuel economy and prevention of unnecessary wear, especiall in California where roads are most often dry...
