ozzir70's 87 pu build
Ok, I am attempting my second build. First one was before I found YT. I'll do my best to keep it updated. Just bought this truck from Grand Rapids and drove it back to Chi town. any input on this build would be awesome.

Interior is near mint, frame needs some welding. Truck will get about everything new, already have most parts.
Here is what I have patched so far. The frame was not that bad, I probably went over board with the plating bit i wanted it strong. I still need to replace the bed mounts and the cross member.

I think you are going to like the extra cab, that little bit of extra room makes a big difference. Looks like you are getting some things done already. Welcome to Yotatech.

I'll post some interior pics later tonight. I had an loud engine noise and was trying to figure it out when being an idiot I broke the timing cover. Now I am just rebuilding the whole motor.
For parts i went to LCE and my local NAPA. Hope they are as good as i have read. The LCE stuff. this is what I have so far, new pro torquer cam, rockers and springs, hyper pistons .040 over, new timing cover, oil pump and water pump all new hoses, new radiator.
I will also be replacing the rear proportioning valve with an adjustable one from Summit. Running all new brake lines replacing all brake components.
From Toyota I was able to get both e-brake cables and a new fuel pump hanger. I will be replacing the gas tank as well.
This truck was in fairly decent shape but it will be my daily driver so thats why I may be going a little over board with replacing things. But I want it to be super dependable.

Here is the new bed mounts and the replacement cross member.
I am going to flatbed it.
I bought an old steel trailer 5x8 should work out well. And thats where I got my patch material from!

I hope some of the more experienced people on here will give me some input.
I really want to do a dual t-case setup but I am not sure if I am wasting my time doing this and sticking with the IFS. I had planned on the OME toyota lift with HD torsion bars.

Here is the new tank mounted. I also replaced the OE Toyota filter with a GM quick disconnect. I couldn't get the plastic line to stay where I wanted it so I made a sleeve out of an alloy tube to keep it the shape I needed. The line to the fuel rail is a Russell with an adapter from An to 14mm at the fuel rail. So in the future it should be cheaper and easier to change.
and a pic of the completed motor

Easy to make progress when you work for a shop. I'm a service writer for a local shop. So I have a complete shop at my disposal. Makes things a little easier!

Flatbed mounted and fuel tank hooked up. I wanted to recess the fill. No real reason just thought it would be cool. Also got the front brakes done

Finally found your build thread. Very nice work on that engine, and I really like that rear bumper. Must be nice to have all that equipment at your disposal.

I cut the material into strips to fill in between the ridges in the floor. Then put a second layer over it. It took a long time to get the foil smoothed over
