My first yota 91 single cab

Well this is my new to me yota Cant wait to start driving this thing and wheeling it. Iv only ever had jeeps (prolly get bashed but hey come at me) This yota prolly looks beat to ˟˟˟˟ to most but i love it, it just fits me.
No idea where ima take this build but we shall see.
Some info on the truck. I paid $700 for it, its a 1991 single cab long bed 5 speed with 3.slow engine. Its been siting since 2017. So in 2015 (about 2500 miles before it was parked) I have paperwork showing the dealer fixed headgaskets and steering rods as part of a recall. The PO also paid to have a water pump timing belt plugs and wires installed also at the dealer. Only 2500 miles after that it developed a no start condition and has been siting since. Now she is mine to bring back to life!

Fellow 91 owner...congrats!!

That bed is not from a 91 though. That's a vintage 80's bed!

So after fighting a no spark issue I have traced it to the MAF sensor. Was able to source a very nice replacement for $20 from a local off-road club.

In with the new...

Out with the old....

She's now running like a champ even after sitting for nearly 3 years.
Now time to address this rear tail light mess....

Well got her running really good and cleaned the hell out of the suspension and frame. Spent a hour cleaning dirt and rat nest out of the frame... Beds all pulled off ready to be sand blasted and primed. Unfortunately my local shop is booked out 2 weeks.. give me time to work on other things with the truck tho

Dang you're really moving fast. Keep it up!

Nothing better than a regularly updated build thread.

A real 'diamond in the rough' there for $700! I don't see any real rust there at all, the frame and body on that thing are SOLID! Not sure where you're located but up here in Eastern Canada that thing would be worth some $$ to a Toyota enthusiast.

Congratulations and great work!

I'm located in central cal and yes it is very very clean of rust. It also only has 102k original miles.

I've got the same 91 truck. The interior of the doors are nothing special as you can probably see. They seem to be just a thin piece of particle board. You might be able to recreate something cheap and easy out of similar particle board and some vinyl. If you can't find anything decent in a scrapyard.

Yeah I was looking for a old dresser the back panels imo is perfect thickness and about the same material.
My concern is the top where it rounds and blends into the window trim
