9422re's 89 pickup 3.0 build up thread

well here it goes jumping into my project truck its a 89 single cab 3.0 with 85000 miles its got some problems such as a small hole in the frame and some motor troubles. finally getting sick of looking at it so its time to build. ill post pics and all that fun stuff as i build. its gonna be a while but i have plenty of time to do it, no license until i turn 21 (i'm 18). i'm on a budget so we're using all the second hand parts i can, dont make enough money to go all out. so far i've just got a stereo, the flowmaster and the tires&rims into it. but here she is as she sat/ currently sits.

bald ass 31-10.50's

flexin' after the install of the Flowmaster super 44 single in dual out

new to me 33-12.50s

THE TO DO LIST

*starter-currently waiting for my new one...this weekend hopefully?

*frame-small hole...next fix bad pic but here it is:

*motor-somethings not right, thinking HG but not 100 percent sure...smokes a lil and smells like coolant, but my oil is clear as can be??? intake gasket is all ive heard as an alternative to HG...she also sputters and hesitates when you step on her when motors cold....not sure if they go hand in hand or if im dealing with 2 problems here....contemplating a swap of some sort...3.4 would be the preference they're just hard to find around here and pricey.

*body- needs some bondo to be done over and has small spot missing in front of passenger side rear

*paint-PO did rubberized undercoat along bottom, think im gonna do top part red or silver agin...and redo bottom with bed liner

*i know for sure i'm in need of bushings in places

*intake

*clutch ((doesn't need one, just want aftermarket))

*a real lift ((not torsion bar and shackle!!))

*interior to SR5 ((bucket seats, console, tach if possible, gearshift/4x4 shift cover))

*nasty yet compact sound system setup ((have an idea for building a ceiling mounted box))

and the list goes on!

Be interesting to see it when you complete it. I just bought an '89 with a 3.0. Runs pretty strong but does have some issues. Tune up happening this weekend.
