getting ready for the second build up on my 1989 4runner affectionately named muffin..... my base was a bone stock 1989 4cyl. 5speed which was white and sported the classic 80's graphics..... i started by putting on a set of 33.12.50's before even registering.... wow did my turning radius suck by the way... so after its first trail run, insurance and registration was the next step....

 

so next i knew what i wanted..... bigger tires and i knew i had to make more room if i was going to fit them..... although not ready to SAS the truck, and not willing to invest hundreds into lifting the IFS... i scowered the internet for solutions other than the typical tortion bar crank, and thanks to 4crawler i found what i wanted... ball joint spacers, which matched with blocks and an add-a-leaf, was the perfect 1 1/2" lift, even fixed my saggy springs.....

After that was a custom bumper and some paint to cover some of the trail scars she earned along the way....

 

Up next is a frame off resto.... pictured is a 1995 4runner frame, soon to be braced, blasted and painted.... ohh and SAS'd.... i have the spring hanger, thanks to trail gear, i have fj80 springs and some bed liner for the frame, thanks to some of the great folks on yotatech..... and last but not least a 2" body lift, and set of 2" coil spacers, thanks to 4crawler (roger brown is the man by the way, great products and great service, not only did i speak to him directly, but he was beyond helpful with my ordering and any tech questions that i had), definitely recommend them to anyone...

I have almost everything ready to go, biggest obstacle i face so far is my custom motor mounts, which will be 4cyl. mounts, but my drive line will be raised 2" to match the body.... allowing me to eliminate the droop of my tranny cross member, and raise my gas tank and any other obstructions. once muffin is up and rolling again on her new chassis, 4 linked in the rear, SAS'd in the front... then comes the driveline build.

I currently have a dual t-case adapter to build this winter, and then onto the motor....

Before i can have her up and rolling again i need to figure out, this is where anyone out there that can help comes in, what kind of custom spring pack i can build to match the approx. 7" of spring lift i have for the rear... i would love to keep as much as i can toyota.. i mean thats why i chose this vehicle to build in the first place... so anyone with advise or even better, answers PLEASE dont hesitate to help or give me your 2 cents....

i hope to have her up and rolling by november or december 2010.... with the help of some friends of course....
