There was a lot of frame rust so i decided that I was going to redo part of the frame. I found out that square body s10 frames are the closest to stock yota frames. The C fits almost perfectly over the frame rail.
Pic of the donor s10.
Pics of the yota frame getting the new frame welded on.
Put the rear suspension in.
Having a little fun. haha
Then i made a custom crossmember over the rear axle.
Then i cut out all the IFS.
Then i enlisted the help of my girlfriend to help me with some of the fabrication.
I mounted the cab.
Welded in rear cab mounts.
Then i tacked in place the front hanger. and mocked up the front axle set up. i still have to tear into this axle and redo it. But i wanted to get the truck on all fours again so i can move it around for now. I am about to start restoring a 79 f-250 for a guy so i will need to be able to move it around.
This is where i left off yesterday.
I still have to figure out the mounting of the 51" rears up front. People are saying it is harder than the 48" rears but is doable, so its back to the research board...
a few other things that will be in the works soon:
I am going to run a split brake system along with twin sticks and RR disconnect. So i can do front and rear digs. The rear brakes will be on a lever in the center and the fronts will be hooked to the stock brake pedal.
Does anybody have any input on these ideas?
I want to hook the rear brake lever straight to a master cylinder inside the cab. Does anybody have any part numbers for the cylinder or a lever/cylinder combo?

Yesterday I got the drivers side shackle mounted.
I found out my touch has no acetylene so i had to find other methods of cutting the holes for the frame tubes...
Thursday I will hopefully get my motor all put together and ready to put in.
Then this weekend I am going to take the truck over to my girlfriends house so I can use her dads torch to cut the holes for the pass. Shackle.
I'm also going to tr and get done modifying the spring perches.
Since my axle is out of a land cruiser it was a spring under so I have to modify the too part to work for a spring over set up.

Haha well thank you.
It was never intended to be this big of a project but once I blew the motor up it all kind of snowballed and I thought why not? Haha
I'm hoping to have it drivable by the first of the year.
It will still new things like gears and a drive shaft for the front. The half cage and all the other fancy stuff.
But I'll be able to drive it down the road again. Lol

Got the front axle mocked up
Made a gas tank mount.
Anybody know what these sensors are called?
I need one of them.
Drilled for the tube on the passenger side
Made a lot of progress on.getting the motor ready
Here is a picture of how it is sitting today.

Finally got around to working on the truck again now that the holidays are over.
Started making a mount for my toolbox.
But I.ran out of welding wire so I jacked the back of the cab up and started putting in my new body mounts.
Also the motor needs three or four bolts put in and its ready to get dropped back in the truck!

This week I did quite a bit to the truck!
I made a toolbox mount.
mounted some trailer lights to use as temporary tail lights.
Did some painting.
pulled the rear end out to finish weld the suspension mounts.
then pulled the front axle.
Things left to do before its drivable.
- High steer
- brakes on the front axle
- new flywheel
- new clutch
- new radiator
- put the motor in
- Wire up tail lights and fuel pump
Prolly some other odds and ends im forgetting too. haha
