millowill's 1989 4Runner Build-Up Thread

Picked up this 4Runner and decided to give it a new life. Its a 1989 4 Cyl Manual transmission 4X4. Restoration will be basic for now but i will eventually make it an off road beast.

There are some rust issues to deal with especially at the top of the bed on the right side. The rest of the truck is in fair condition. Everything works including the AC.
Here is a list of junkyard parts i have so far.

Front and rear 4.88 V6 Differentials
SR5 V6 Bucket seats
V6 spindles, rotors and calipers.
Dashpad cover
Toyota Sequoia Alloy 16in wheels
Panel Cutout for bed repair..will be welded into position.
Rear windows and moldings for Fiberglass shell (moldings rusted out)
Driver side window glass

Issues to be dealth with:
Engine seals and timing Chain..few leaks around
Rust holes around windshield
Small rust holes around rear fenders
Dash pad removal and repair
Body prep and paint.

Installed the V6 rear 4.88 Differential and brakes, Sequoia wheels yesterday..No issues.

More pics to come.

Truck looks good, I like the Sequoia wheels. Seems like they have some good junkyards over on the West Coast...I need a 4.88 front diff, maybe I should drive over the alley. Can you recommend any yards?

Yes i got most of my parts from Toyokings in Opa Loca FL
For a 4.88 Deff look for an Automatic V6 4runner 4x4 with a G144 axle code

Maybe too much..$1800.00 These trucks are hard to find in FL as they are purchased and shipped overseas. More of a rebuilding project for me..Going to work on the front end next weekend, then the body will be stripped for welding and prep...Pics to follow.

make sure you get the front diff ratio matching the rear diff else you're in for some fun.

otherwise, good luck with the project.

Finally installed the front V6 deff (4.88) out of an Automatic. I took off the ADD and installed the original 22R longshaft on the front Deff. I had to install an oil seal on the Right side of the deff as the V6 ADD seal is in the tube. Installed the V6 rotors and calipers. I had to get new V6 pins and springs for the Calipers as the original ones were too short. Rebuilt the CV joints and replaced the Dust and Hub seals.
To Do list:
Replace steering ends and front shocks.
Replace Rt side Freewheel hub..missing parts inside.
