mightymouse's 1991 Pickup Build-Up Thread - "Travis"
#63
Hello mightymouse..Been following your threads for quite sometime. I like all of your trucks (except for the fire part). I agree with you as this is mostly a 4WD site, but these little 2 wheels work great as daily drivers and sure beat a 4 wheel on mileage. They also so have alot more get up and go.
I like my 87, but my brother has a 92 two wheel and your body style defintely has the smoother ride. Just to seem to be heavier and better built.
One thing I like about these two wheels its just about as fast to pull the whole motor and tranny in one piece when it comes to doing a clutch. Alot easier and you can get to them little leaks.
You may have mentioned it,but I missed it. If you got the 4 speed, a Celica 5 speed is a direct bolt in. I am thinking 92 is when they went to the electric speedometer. If it is 91 then you would have problems.
Seems like all of the Missouri guys live in your part of the state. Keep up the great work

thanks, Terry, chef, yeehaw,
Terry i have the five speed on mine. Just did the clutch few weeks ago. Little truck runs great. If you ever need hard to find parts for that project of yours let me know. Nice shop build by the way. A lot of land cruiser guys are over in kc with the TAC (tornado alley cruisers) Met them in september at SMORR. Mileage wise i'm easy in the 28-30 mpg range. My motor on this truck is really nice. After the timing chain i did a basic tune up and drove the snot out of it.

got the windows tinted, picked up a new dd for the wife (check sig) and planning on wheeling in feb with the 84. I need a new exhaust after the cat for the little travis truck but plan on waiting for it to fall off. I need to do the brakes proper but they work for now. Truck lost a little gas mileage but not enough to really notice with the addition of larger tires and rims. The tires suck in the snow. Mileage is averaging 26-28mpg. I'll try to add some pics of the fleet soon.

99....leaving it stock....
...sounds kind of familiar...
(gotta post a pic so I'll know it if I see it already)
I'm hoping to make the one Feb run, pending on what the left upper ball joint sounds/looks like by then. Hope to see you there.

Highlander? Painted bumpers/black flares? Locker? Think she'll play with it any? Would love to have another chick gettin' stripey with it.
Hey, mine's a daily driver/ kid hauler/ grocery getter too! Her only 'scuse can be that she's wants to keep taking those great pictures instead of driving.
I'll do the 4Runner howdy if I see her 'round.
