I assume the 4.30's are in prep for the 3.4 swap? How did you like your 265/75's with the 4.56's? that's the gear/tire combo I wanna run in my 22re/5spd.

Actually, I did it that way because it was cheaper for me to buy a 4.30 front and then sell my 4.56's as a set than it was for me to buy a 4.56 R&P, and an install kit to re gear the 4.30 to a 4.56.

Elocker setup $400
front diff $125
Misc. $40

Sold my 4.56 set for $350. So $210 was my total when it was all said and done. And having the 3.4 swap coming up made it fairly easy to go that route.

But to answer your question, 4.56's and 265/75/16's were perfect. Even the speedometer was right on. If you know you aren't going to a bigger tire set up, then that combo will do you well. Hope that helps.

Just got my runner last weekend, 2 months earlier and I would have been happy to take 4.56's off you hands........I have plenty of other stuff to take care of before that anyway, and the 30in tires I have now have plenty of tread so it may be a while before I jump up in size anyway. the tires I'm running now are 30x9.5 firestone destination M/T with stock 4.10's code G292. I'm split between the 265/75r16 or the 235/85r16 in a toyo M/T or M-55, essentially the same height but different widths. would you have liked the narrower 235? when I re-gear is worth putting the money into the locker or something else like winch or dual case? thoughts? truck probably won't ever go bigger than 33's.

Hy Chef, I've been keeping up with the smog thread. Hope you get it figured out soon. You always get stuck with the long drawn out problems. Booo.

I like the width of the 265s. Problem I had while shopping for tires was watching the weight as to not drop the mpgs any more then I had to. 235/85s are mostly E rated, meaning extra weight. In the Duratracs, the difference from 265/75 C rated to 235/85 E rated Is 45 lbs. vs. 51lbs. So even on the highway, its an extra 12 pounds directly on the drive train (rear tire added weight) I plan on keeping my stock bumpers, so I went with the locker. I would personally go winch or locker before dual case, but mine is an off roader, not a wheeler, so that makes my decision different than yours.

Hahahaha... Logan, u'z fuhknee! lol.

Where's he been, anyway, man?^^^^

Kiyo, .... I know, I know... I SWEAR i've tried to take my time and do everything to specs/with the right sealants/to the right measurements/with the best quality materials I could/can afford each time.... Yet something is FOLLOWING ME! Either the 02 being further back(or whatever the problem is) is the ONLY issue, and it's brand new.... OR SOMETHING IS FOLLOWING ME! lol. Honestly? I'm starting to think that WHATEVER this gremlin might be may have caused the early failure of the last motor(NOT IN WHOLE... Obviously, my machinist was a JACKHOLE! lol).... But you know what I mean.

Bottom line is that LEAN=EARLY FAILURE.... And even if that's 40K or even only 10K earlier than it would be... I DON'T CARE, I'm not happy! lol. Seconly, THE MILEAGE, ...OMGOSHHHHHHHH! lol. I've NEVER heard a guru tell me a 3.0 can get better mileage than a rebuilt/clean 22re... and the original stickers didn't say so either, lol. Not much difference, but definitely not 12-14City! lol.

Anyway, sorry .... I'll save it for later, lol.

Have a good one, and Logan... GOOD TO SEE YA! ....

Soooooo, 3.4 swap is done. Just little bugs to work out. But is back on the road.

Thank you to all who helped.

Vitaly Denega
Logan Oliver
Alex Wilson
Josh Young
Cody Kobinachaki
Joe Ball
And my neighbor, Richard.

I'll have to come up with what my parts list was for a 22re to 5vze swap. If you are interested, let me know.

We painted them at the same time. His ended up better than mine so I re-did it yesterday.

The whole rig still has the original 25 year old paint on it. Just re-did the hood setup. I kinda want it charcoal gray to match the front bumper.

I love that Gray! My fav's are the Blueberry Blue, Red(both reds, and Super Red 1 and 2), White with the Gray stripes, Root Beer Brown, and even Silver... I know, most don't seem to like that Toolbox Silver... I LOVE IT! lol. I loved Toyota's Flat Colors, ..... especially Red, Blueberry and White(LOVE Toyo's Rig, for example).

Well, you did a great job, man... Amazing how White seems to hold up the best(not amazing, but VERY telling of how great of paint they used.) I have buddies with 90's Fords and such that look WORSE THAN MINE already! hahaha.. And, mine's 27 years old now! lol.

Very stoked for ya, bud.... I think you got a sick rig and now it's even MAS INFERMO! lol.

Thanks chef!! I appreciate it. At least when I can get all the bugs worked out, I think I'll be done with it as far as big projects go. I'm pretty amped on that happening. The white paint has held up pretty well. But it has been sunfaded after living most its life in Arizona. But it still shines up pretty decent, I can't really complain.
