JustDSM's 1993 4Runner Build
After almost 5 years of ownership and having my '83 Toyota pickup (3RZ swapped) as my sole transportation, I thought it was about time to find/build something a little more comfortable for longer trips. So I literally scoured the internet looking at Toyota's across the country. And I think I found the vehicle that's going to be the new focus of my attention.
A super clean low mileage 1993 4Runner SR5 V6 5spd. 94,000 miles and absolutely mint condition inside, 9/10 exterior. Picked it up in Northern California so it's completely rust free and 100% stock, or was. Before I drove it home from CA I went ahead and installed an Alpine CD player w/ Bluetooth.
Truck rides extremely smooth and quiet! Much better than the '83! Cruising comfortably on the interstate at 70-75 it got me 19mpg on the 1000+ mile drive home. Very pleased thus far!
So there you have it!
Looking into some suspension options. Lets see what happens!

Man, that is a clean truck, indeed! Very good find. I've thought about doing that myself.. Flying or riding into a western state and then driving back home across the country. Inspiring to see it done!

In all honesty thats the secret to getting a clean/rust free older Toyota. The flight cost me $250 and while I paid a penny for the 4Runner it would be literally impossible to find one anywhere around my area even remotely close to the condition this thing is in. The trip home was a bit of a bonding experience for me and the 4Runner. Sadly I didn't get to sight see any as I had to get back to school.

Yeah, I'm doing the head gaskets right now as preventative maint. If/when they go, I'm putting in a 5VZ. I just wanted to keep things original as long as I can under the hood. My '83 is 3RZ powered and while I love it I just wasn't ready to do that to a "new to me" rig. Who does a 5VZ swap for their first mod? It's been a little while. Haven't done a whole lot to the 4Runner but I have wrenched/tinkered a bit. I've added the billet 1.5" BJ Spacers and OME (Medium) Duty Springs, OME Shocks/Stabilizer, and some Goodyear MTR Kevlar tires in 32x11.5x15 mounted up to the stock wheels.
Also added some Husky Liners to keep the interior clean. Replaced a the rear cargo bulb and one of those little guys behind the HVAC controls. Cleaned the window tracts and put some armor-all on the dash! LOL
Replaced the broken antenna mast from what appeared to be someone forgetting to turn the radio off while going through the car wash.. Added some SilverStar headlight bulbs since I had a set laying around. Lighting was improved a bit.
Had to get rid of the stock hubs, and add some Asian Manual Hubs. For now the ADD shaft in still installed on the front differential, but I have the parts to convert it to the solid shaft/housing. Just haven't gotten around to swapping them.
Sent in my paperwork to the ATF for another project I've been working on.. 11.5" SBR and Suppressor. SBR paper came back, but I'm still anxiously awaiting the stamp for the can to come back, so I can pick up the can (AAC M4-2000).
If I can find the time I just might have a supercharged 5VZ under the hood by the years end!
