Just bought my first yota!! :D

Hey guys! I'm from southwest Virginia and I just purchased my first Toyota! I'm 17 years old and This is going to be my daily driver. Well its a 1989 22re, 5 speed, 4x4, IFS, with a little lift. I'll try to get pictures soon! I picked it up for 450$ with a blown head gasket but all the parts to repair it. Well I popped the hood and he has took everything off except the head and timing chain cover. So I got it a TDC i think. The crank shaft is at "0" and the camshaft gear has the different color chain link straight up towards the hood. Well the notorious driver side chain guide is missing and there is a groove worn into the cover but not all the way through.. i dont think lol. I'm going to take off the timing chain cover and head today to inspect all the damage and see if it needs the timing chain cover too. doing this on a very limited budget. He had the complete head gasket kit, with about 25 different peices, including gaskets, seals, o-rings, valve stem seals, etc etc. also a brand new timing chain set with metal guides coated in plastic. So its going to save me money on all the parts unless the head is cracked.. hopefully it wont be! I'll report later this evening with the end results! Hopefully I will have this done by Friday and running. Oh and this is my first time so I'll probably have quite a few questions!

8th head bolt?
So I'm in the process of pulling the head, I pulled the crank pulley, got the camshaft gear off, Took out 7 bolts around the timing cover (how many and which ones do i need to remove? I took out the one's around the outside.) Starting taking out head bolts im on the 4th one back on the drivers side, and it will not come out! I'm afraid im going to mess up the bolt. After I finish getting the Head bolts out and rocker assembly off what else needs to be removed? Or can i just pull the head straight off with a little tapping?
