Hmmmm, well, you could still have spark and a #6 Code. Wish you were driving by here, I'd lend you a TPS, AFM and, well, don't have an ignitor to lend you, so you're SOL on that one, lol. However, ....NOW WE'RE GETTING SOMEWHERE, with the "cleared the codes".... that means you are getting a much more clear pic of what is responding/functioning and what is not, eh?

The FSM will give you a MUCH better idea and even more importantly, 'PROCESS OF ELIMINATION' to follow, one to the next, where you WILL rule out/confirm bad, this or that part.

The ignitor is VERYYYYYYYYY RARELY bad. Many replace them, chasing their tails.....but find it wasn't the problem. HOWEVER, I suppose it's possible to short them out, etc. When you painted, etc., did you remove all these components(i.e. Coil, Ignitor, etc.)???

11 could very well be the TPS, ... maybe you damaged it, set it WAY OFF, something like that(but I think you're pretty decent with this stuff, Jason, ...and unless you soaked it in solvent when cleaning the Throttle Body, ...not sure how).... But, it COULD ALSO be the AC switch.... Are you SURE you connected it to the compressor? That's the one lil teeny plug that I've forgotten more than once. There's one on the Valve Cover as well for the AC(the front most one)...but I'm not sure that one throws a code. Have him check/follow the wire that comes off the compressor and goes to near the battery(portion of the harness that it comes out from, right there).....just to see if it's unplugged. If so, plug it back in, clear the codes, then try again.

If you have spark, .....then you need to make SUREEEEEE you're injectors are firing. Cold start injector, while it can have fuel right to it at the rail IS NOT 'A FOR SURE SIGN' that the injectors are firing or even that the CSInjector is. Ya know?(You can do a very common test of the CSInjector by removing it from the plenum, leaving it hooked to the connector and banjo, then firing it over when cold.... it SHOULD DEFINITELY give you a few good squirts into a rag ) You could also try to remove a plug and fire it over, then run a tight threaded piece of fabric in there, smelling for fuel. The FOR SURE SIGN that you do or don't have fuel firing out of them? Well, ..... a guy I helped build his motor and I ended up having to pull the plenum, unbolt the fuel rail and then, with the EFI ground still attached to the intake, and pretty much everything on the plenum still attached, TPS, etc., fired it over, .... and as we suspected, they WERE NOT firing. The problem ended up being a break in the No.10 and No.20 Wires at the main split in the harness..... We did try a noid light first, ...and that would be your best bet without pulling the intake to KNOW whether your injectors or at least the one or two you can reach the connector clip on ARE INDEED getting voltage. His were NOT lighting up.... I had a problem with mine, early on in my build thread, where #2 Injector was not firing. We first started leaning toward a fuel issue because, well, the #2 header pipe was almost ice cold after even 30-45 seconds...... I remember running a noid light test, but I can't remember if it lit or not. What happened to stop it from firing was that it got jammed up with some debris(think I told you all about that, right?).... the very first time I fired it over! lol. ALMOST CERTAIN that it was lighting up, ..... because we had power to the connector... but the injector wasn't firing, which led me to tear down the intake for the first of 3 times in the first month(and from there, it only got worse! hahaha). See, if you can show the noid lighting, even 2 of them, IT WOULD AT LEAST fire over, erratically or not, ya know?... and I find it almost impossible to believe that all 4 of your injectors are malfunctioning, ya know? lol. It's free to rent, ...I'd give it a try.

Maybe ask the young man if he could call O'reilly and see if they have a Noid light Kit you can rent. Just be SURE he's VERY CAREFUL removing the clips on the injectors... cuz if he loses it in there, WOW, it can be a real pain to find it, lol. Yep, I'd definitely try that, Jason, .... at least you could rule out "1. Getting power to the Injectors." ...Or "NOT", right?

PS> #6 can also be the Secondary Coil, the green plug on the Dizzy. That, I believe, is a LOT more common to go bad than the ignitor. Also, you CAN multi-meter test the ignitor AND the Secondary Coil. The Secondary should read between 140-180ohms resistance. VERY easy test. The air gap test is a lil more complicated, ..but not much.

nothing really to update as I still haven't got home, however I have had time to do a lot of research and have a much better understanding of how the fuel and ignition systems work and work together so I feel much more confident about digging into this, the first thing I'm going to do is make 100% sure the dizzy is right and then start a POE test I'm sure its something simple I just have to find it and I will. Anyway hope everyone is having a great independence week end just please remember its about more than fireworks and cookouts not preaching just patriotic LOL. Have a great weekend.

Congratz, Regina! Been slammed ALL DAY, then FINALLY took the daughter out for her Bday. I'll get that to you asap!

Way to always have your eyes open, Jason! Add another vehicle to the 'YARD', eh? hahaha.

haha shes pretty stoked mark, we have been trying to figure out what is going up for sale to make room for it, her dodge would make the most sense but with gas prices the way they are you cant give away a full size 4x4 and I dont want to lose that much ya know. we will work somthing out.
the specs on the runner well fully loaded, auto, 4x4, 5vze, rear e locker, grey on grey, could use a set of tires but clean he let me pull it in his shop and check it out everything looked good, 160xxx one owner I dont think the t case has been locked in 10 times and the e locker I dont think has ever been used. Ive been fooled before and I hate looking at a vehicle in the rain but it seems realy solid, anyway like I said if I can get down ther tom I will try and snap some pics.

Hello Jason.. Congrats on the new Runner. Just thought I would give some tips for it. We have an 01 4Runner.

Use the Toyota plugs for it. They cost about the same as store brand. While I was overseas, the wife had a mechanic to tune it up and he used Champions, I came home for two weeks and at 100 miles since tune up I thought the computer was out. Turned out to be plugs. On the front of the engine there should be a sticker with the typical plug with a line through it.

When filling up, once the gas stops the first time, dont fill it to the top. You can round up to the nearest dollar, but dont fit another gallon in it. I did,now I get to replace the charcoal unit. Got one, just havent put it in. It will give an engine code. I just clear it with my hand held scanner, but need to get out and change it. Over filling runs raw gas to the filter.

May need to see if the timing belt has been changed. She had that done while I was gone. Other then having to change a coil, and the correct maintance, at 150,000 Nooo problems. Bought it with 40,000 on the clock.

I do alot of towing and want to upgrade the tranny cooler like I have seen others do. Do the recommend maintenance and they are great trucks.

was hopeing to get out to the the shop today but Ive got a few things to take care of first so it may be late today, anyhow I will let yaal know what I find out.

She had our belt while I was gone. I have the TV show Trucks or TruckU recorded on DVR and they do a belt replacement on the show. Doesnt look bad at all. But it does help having a video to watch versus having to go by reading a book.

If I dont know how to transfer it from TV to a downloadable or DVD. It would be nice to have.

I just looked it up off of my DVR recording. It is on Trucks! It was shown on 4/02 Saturday. I am sure it was from 4/02/11. Seems to me like you can buy the TV shows for like $6. If you have to ever tackle it, it would really let you know what you were getting into.

Thanks Terry I remember that episode, they did a belt swap on a Tacoma they're building, I knew I had seen it done LOL. I don't have it on my dvr any more but I can find it.

Grats on the new toy. It's nice to see you were able to "sway" the wife into buying something you'll actually enjoy working on for her. I wasn't so lucky with my wife, but I did sway her enough to go from driving mustangs to a nissan xterra. Next step to a 4runner shouldn't be as much of a shock to her system lol
