I trimmed a bit of the fenders and part of the bumper last week. Here are pics to show:
I trimmed as little as possible and hammered in the pinch weld. It hasnt rubbed since! haha
I trimmed a portion of the front valence and bumper as well, just for ˟˟˟˟s and giggles. I wanted to see what it'd look like. I think it looks pretty good, just havin some fun before I throw on a real bumper.

Nice looking cut on that bumper Does that maybe lose enough weight you can get rid of the corner hangers, just barely visible in the 2nd pic. I'd of probably gone with something a little steeper and shorter so those wouldn't show, that doesn't leave much to trim off however. And yours looks great, mean street look without the big armor weight!

That's pretty sweat! The cuts give it a mean/agressive look. Your front looks wider than mine, so I assume the spacers are on? Good luck on gears! I went from 4:10 to 4:56 to 4:88 and back to 4:56's lol .. I think I'm content now lol

Co_94_PU: Thanks for the compliment. I should've gone with a little shorter cut, but at the time, I didnt even think of the hanger being seen. I plan on just cutting it off. bumper will stay like this for a while until I can afford a real bumper.

The spacers are on. lol A little wider than I thought they were going to be, but it turned out pretty nice. Just got done retorqueing the bolts earlier this afternoon.
I have been contemplating on going with 4.56s or 4.88s. How much of a difference in power do you see with the 4.56's over the 4.88s?

Also, if you ever really need more torque, thats what 4low is for right? *lol
Best or luck! GREG

Hey bud, sorry I havent been on in a while. There is no denying that the 4:88s give more torque. As a matter if fact, it feels like it gives a ton more. My problem was that at 55mph, my truck was tached out. No doubt that I loved that extra power but I got tired of it in less than a month. I am running the 4:56s now and love the setup. The 4:56 and 33s feel like 4:10s and 31s. I ran the 4:88s in my truck before my rebuild and they were still to much. And that motor was pretty tired. I ran 4:56s before and after the rebuild. Perfect setup for me anyway. I mention that because you have the new engine and it may help with your decision.
Also, if you ever really need more torque, thats what 4low is for right? *lol

Thank you guys for your inputs, i really appreciate it.
Took a drive in my buddy's truck with 33's running 4.88, and then took a ride in his dad's truck 33's with 4.56's. 4.88's definitely has more torque, but like everyone has said, the RPM's do stay pretty high. Going 60 mph, the rpm was at 2700-3000. With my buddy's dad's truck, the engine seems to do a little more work in first gear, but man freeway driving is awesome! RPM sits at 2400 going 60 mph.
I will most likely end up with 4.56's. Thanks guys.

Anytime. Junkyard differentials are cheap. Like $50 for front and $50 for the rear here in Alabama. If you pull it of course

Haven't been on here in a while, so here's a couple updates.
Putney's Custom Stg. 2 motor is running awesome! So far I've put roughly 5,000 miles on the engine, from freeway driving, to slow wheeling, to stop and go traffic.
I was able to grab a rear 4.56 diff with a Detroit and then found a matching ADD diff not long afterwards. Got those babies swapped in and boy did it make a difference.

Haven't been on here in a while! A little update on how the trucks doing; engine is awesome has been running flawlessly. I drive this truck almost daily from stop and go traffic in downtown Sac, on the freeway to Elk Grove. Besides my starter going out, this engine from Jim Puntey is awesome, probably the best thing I enjoy about this motor is how silent it is and I know these 22re's are rattle monkeys, but this engine is one of the quietest I have yet to hear. I am currently in the process of building a rear bumper for the truck so stay tuned! And now I have some pictures to show... enjoy!
Took a trip up to Icehouse late in October, doing some last minute deer hunting. No luck! haha
I also went ahead and trimmed the lower valence/ lower trim of the bed to get ready for a high clearance bumper that I am currently building.
I finally replaced my stock stereo for a Pioneer unit, and also got replacement 4' speakers, Oh yeah, she bumps alright!! haha
And heres a shot of the ODO from the beginning of my build to now, it currently sits here from 582,000. I've put roughly 6000 miles on the new motor
