Ian, that's NICE! Slim, out of the way of "OOPS, I'm pegged up on my bumper....anyone got a come'along?" hehehe.

Of course, the trailer hitch is usually lower than that to keep the trailer somewhat level, lol.

so this project took entirely too long. like, 3 years ... i started the planning back in '09, and just now put it together

top right: 80gb zune. better than the apple equivalent
top center: zune transmitter, with a few... modifications
bottom right: mod #1- new power adapter. the old one died
left: mod #2- aux out. no place to do this other than crack the transmitter open

so i hope to get it all hooked up soon so i can listen to my 5-hour playlist

My niece stopped by and asked, "what's that guy got on his arm? I've seen that"... I said, "It's a Zune Logo"..... She says, "OOHHHHH, .... wow, is he kinda crazy? Anyway, yeah, my friend has one and makes fun of my Ipod..... He says, 'All I wanna do is zune'a zune zune zune and a boom boom' ", ..... I finished with a, "Shake-Shake ya rump!", ....to which I got a look of, "eh?" ..... hahahaha. She's 12, ...just thought I'd share that...sorry, lol.

ha, thanks mark. i think microsoft could have made a bit of profit off of zune if they actually advertised. but no... it's much better to just hope the product does well

anyway, i'm done ranting. i just wish there were more accessories for the zune, instead of having to make my own

Maybe a stupid question here but why do you need the transmitter? Couldn't you plug in a charger and then use a regular aux. cable in the headphone jack?

here, i'll try and make the comparisons of charge cable + aux line from headphone jack with separate aux line from transmitter

note: while the transmitter still works fine, i won't be using it. just the audio out from the zune itself

charge cable + aux..|modified transmitter
-2 cords to plug in |-1 cord to plug in
-volume dependent on|-volume preset, one
zune volume setting |output level, cleaner sound
-looks really tacky |-looks clean

it's something i get asked a lot, and ipawd users have a plethora of options available to them. so i thought, i want some options, too! that's my semi-temporary solution. best part is, i already had all the parts

Hey Ian, sweet find with the elocker! I wish I could have retrofit an elocker in mine when I regeared, I was just in a time crunch (and money crunch for that matter) with the road trip across the country and everything, so I had to go with an autolocker.

Anyway, let me know when you are planning on installing that bad boy and I might be able to come give you a hand. I don't have any experience with the actual retrofit part, but I did drop and replace my rear differential by myself and it definitely would have been nice to have another pair of hands.
