InvaderTrax's 1986 4Runner Build-Up
Traded my '92 Sonoma for this a few weeks ago. 214k on the body with a rebuilt 22RE with about 12k on it. When I got it, it was mechanically sound, but kinda hacked up elsewhere. Torsion bars are cranked way up, and the rear is lifted on block, as well as a complete body lift. The stock rear shocks were fully extended at ride height, so driving over a bump in the road literally took the wheels off the ground. Picked up some cheap Rough Country 8000 shocks and that made a major improvement. Took it out that weekend and it did alright. So far the plans are:
-Replace brake master cylinder (gotta pump the brakes before they really work)
-Replace blocks with lift springs (have) and longer shackles (don't have)
-Add ball joint spacers up front and turn the torsion bars back down some
-Replace stock 4.10 gears with 4.56 or 4.88 (really doesn't like these 35's on the street as is)
-Possibly trade 35's for some 33's
If there are other members in Knoxville feel free to message me, especially if you've got parts I need

It's welded to the frame at the bottom, but that's it. Right now the plan is to just avoid getting stuck, but there are still other places I can latch onto if I need to. Right now we're planning to hit Windrock again in a few weeks and try trail 16 (lots of Youtube videos). Brakes are #1 on the list, and hopefully the ball joint spacers will be #2, if only to correct the bad CV angle

As you can see, it's got a good amount of flex with the Discovery springs. I might cut one coil off in the future so they'll compress a little more, but next I need ball joint spacers. The cranked up torsion bars don't have much give

Installed some 4.56 gears today. Noticeable difference over the 4.10s. Found two different guys selling front and rear diffs separately, drove 70 miles to pick up the front, then picked up the rear on the way home. Spent $150 combined on diffs, $10 on gas, $11 on the shaft seal (removed the ADD shaft in favor of my nonADD shaft), and $18 on 5 quarts of SuperTech GL-5. And, judging by the old fluid, I also need to invest in some extended diff breathers. Next up are BJ spacers, LF wheel bearing, and new blower switch

Traded the Baja Claws for some 33x10.50/15 KM2's on LandCruiser wheels. It's more proportional and a lot easier to drive on the street (which isn't a common occurrence anyway). Also replaced the LF inner and outer wheel bearings

just some quick advise from somebody that can help. i recently purchased a 3inch body lift kit with 32x11.50tires. and i was just wondering if those size of tires would look great with my 3inch body lift. i have a 95toyota 4runner.

I believe you can wedge 32's under a stock 4Runner. The 3" body lift made the shifter almost awkwardly low, so I would strongly recommend a 1-2" body lift over a 3" if you HAVE to do a body lift
