Great pics man... nothing like driving in a snowstorm... at night... off road.
too bad about your damper...and the Patrol... hope it was nothing too serious...
that other runner has some serious wide track action going on...

On Thursday evening we drove to the mountains, staying in a mountain hotel for the night. Woke up on friday morning in this beautiful weather

lets go

on the way to Vatnajokull glacer (biggest in europe)

Speed was around 75kmh (50mph) on the snow

Hópurinn 42" - 46" bílar

last stop untill the glacer

Frekar snjólaust vestan jökuls

driving on frosen glacer river

Icey glacer at first

great weather on the glacier

Arriving at the highest building on the glacer Grímsfjall. The houses are located 1,724 metres (5900ft) above mean sea level.

Driving down the glacer on the north side

One of the guys broke his front axle

The damage

We left the truck there to weld the axle the next morning

Arriving at the hut around 8 pm , just to eat and then go to bed early

the Saturday morning

drive where ever you want

cruising speed was 50 to 100kmh

refueling the gasoline powerd trucks

Vantajökull Glacer in the background

Starting to weld the axle back together, only using 3 batterys , starter cables and two welding sticks.

The 80 series back on its wheels and off we go ,the weather got bad from there.

Another problem , this one lost all its wheel bolts

There the clock was around 10pm and the view beceme very bad, and cold , outside temputure was around minus 22 Celsius (-7.6 Fahrenheit)

back to civilization on the sunday mornng after around 24hours of straight driving

the track we drove off road

Wow hjalti... looks like that was quite a trip... I was wondering how you were going to recover that broken axle truck, did the welds hold all the way home?
