So I have run into a problem. The seals on my injectors were so dried out I decided to replace them. But I am having a hell of a time finding them. I stopped by the Toyota garage today and looked at the parts breakdown and bought what I thought was what I needed.

The picture below shows the injector on the bottom, the old seal in the middle, and what Toyota gave me on top. The old seal and the new seal look nothing alike. Did they just change to a different style, or am I missing something?

 

I just threw the box away a couple of days ago with the part number. I get mine from Oriellys. I can get the part number tomorrow afternoon when I get back form town. They come with 3 or 4 seals per box and will do the entire injector. You have to buy a box for each injector.

I learned the hard way, make sure you use oil, WD-40 or something similar before installing the injector into the fuel rail. I knicked mine and had a bad fuel leak. Lubing prevents knicking.

 

Thanks. I ordered some from O'riellys, but it looked like it only came with an o-ring and one other seal. I guess I'll find out tomorrow morning.

 

Jed just found your build thread. It's looking really good. The big o ring at the base of the injector is the one that is hard to find. I ordered mine from here. http://www.villagetoyotaparts.com/
It's called a cushion. A bit of vasoline will lube them up nice. If you send them off to witch hunter performance you will have them back, cleaned flow tested and with all the required orings in week. Cost is about $100 for all four.

Just in case you dont get what you want. I got the Part Number #274531 made by BWD. They cost $4.30 a box here. It will be around $17 for a full set. Each box come with the seals you will need.

 

Interesting. I ordered 274712 by BWD. They only came with the o-ring and the upper seal. But from the looks of the picture for the part number you gave, the other seal is the same as the one that I got from Toyota. I guess they changed the style.

 

i ran into the same thing when my seals cracked. they do the same purpose, toyota just changed the style, and like everyone has said lube all your seals before installing.

 

Been under the weather all week, so I haven't really done anything. Did get my new exhaust manifold studs and nuts from LCEngineering. Need to travel for work next week so won't be getting anything acomplished anytime soon.

 

Well, the weather was too nice to lay inside and be sick. So I got the rest of the motor together. All that is left is to install the oil pickup and swap the clutch and pressure plate.

Big thanks to Terry. He sent me the oil pickup I needed. I got the motor all together and the engine bay all cleaned up. I got a couple friends coming over Saturday to get it put back in.

 

Glad you got it. I was in the shop today and noticed that I had the bolts that went to it. I thought I had taped them to it when I got it out. Apparently I didnt. I had the bolts taped together though. Guess it is the Old Firt Syndrome kicking in. lol.

Awesome job on the 4runner!! Where did you get the carpet kit from and how do you like the fitment of it? I will be tackling my interior soon and am a little hesitant to order a carpet kit without being able to see the fitment in person.

 

I got the carpet from Summit Racing. I am pretty happy with the fit. Just like any carpet kit, it needs trimmed quite a bit. It was also a little thinner than expected. But overall, I am happy with it.

 

We got the new motor in the 4runner today. Took it for a drive and it feels 100 times better. I think the RV cam was a good idea. The only thing I noticed, is when I come to a stop with the clutch in, the idle bounces around a couple times. I don't know if this is because of the new cam and the computer needs to relearn the idle or what. Has anyone else seen this problem before?

I still need to do some more cleaning, so hopefully this week I can get this done. I also need to install the header. Once I buy a CAT and muffler I will get that in.




Also got the some of the seats swapped. The rear seat bottoms were a bit of a pain. Had to swap the frames. Also had to swap the frame on the passenger seat so that it would slide forward. I am still waiting on jbm715 to get back to me on the seat fabric for the drivers seat. He said he has one, just waiting on a pic and price.

 

Nice!! How much is the idle bouncing? It could be a small vacuum leak. Runner is looking good.

The truck is looking great.

 

The idle is bouncing between 1100 and 900. But the weird thing is, it goes away after it bounces like 4 times. It also doesn't do it all the time, just when you come to a stop while driving. I'll take a look at see if I got any lines loose.

 

See if you can narrow it down. Apply your brakes, does the idle drop? If so, you have a loose brake booster line or your brake booster is shot.
