Dutch,... I'm TRULY impressed by your thread, the detail therein, the pics, the WORK(HOLY CRAPOLI! lol) ............

You are SURELY "ALL IN", AT THIS POINT, indeed! Fheww!

Again, incredible work thus far! I would have scribededed sooner, but I've been TOTALLY consumed with getting done as much as possible!

Not sure I'll be of any help, but I'll chime in if I see something ''HEY, I KNOW THAT ONE!", k? lol.

PS> I'll let you know, asap, on the OMEmu Stuff's, ok?

Mark

I could have put the exact same post in your thread. Problem is my shedule is: work from 7-430. Work on truck till late, drive home, eat. Try to find time for the wife, fail miserably. Thank the heavens for a forgiving wife, sleep. Repeat. If I were to read the full Bible of your thread (including the 12 plagues of your first engine rebuild) I'd have to stop working, eating, sleeping, or being married. Guess I can't complain about my life not being full enough! Cheers!

And yeah, chime away, a chime is a better sound than the clock ticking for all the things I still need to do.

ARBUSA.COM..... Now, if you want to see what numbers you need, first, go to rockyroadoutfitters.com, first, and look up your rig.... then, act like you're going to buy them, ...... then, .... you will be able to see the part numbers! Then, unless you wanna wait like 8 weeks(they're always backordered at RRO because they order in lump packages, not before)...then go to ARBUSA.COM and find the phone number, call up and talk to Jim or his main guy, and tell them, "I don't wanna wait so long from RRO, and I've heard LOTS on how they take forever, ...but they're one of the only purveyors for my kit, ....can I get it from you?" What you'll probably be told is, "at our price, sure", ...which is more, I suppose. So, you might end up having to be tricky, order it from RRO, then call ARB and tell them, "Hey, they're telling me 4-6weeks, which will probably be 10~!... so could you drop ship them for me?".... I paid another 20$ and had them in 4 days! ARB HAS THEM, all day long!

just throwing that out there, as I'VE PERSONALLY dealt with this, lol.

I went back out again this morning and got back at it.

Here's how she sat before I started.

I took out the transfer case crossmember because I'll be modifying it for the drivetrain lift. I took the sway bar out as well but forgot to take a pic. I'll need new sway bar links before I can put it back in. At that point I was ready to pull her outside:

I had only bought 5 bags of sand that morning, not being sure how many it would take. I was almost done one bag and I had only gotten this far:

At that point I realised I didn't have close to enough sand for the whole frame, so I focused on one half of the frame and figured anything past that would be a bonus. It took me a long time, and to be honest I didn't really enjoy the process, especially not doing the underside. I only ended up getting this much done:

And then primed what I had cleaned off:

Took me hours, didn't like one minute of it and I'm maybe half way done. I was pretty bummed out that I didn't finish the whole frame, but after I was done with the primer I cleaned up tools and rolled the frame back inside the shop. Within 2 mins I heard rain on the roof. If I hadn't run out of sand I would have still been blasting and the bare steel would have become soaked. Probably just as well I only bought 5 bags. The auto parts store I bought the sand from is closed sundays so I'll have to find another store that sells it if I'm going to keep my deadline of finishing this before the weekend is over. Not getting it done wouldn't make or break me, but finishing the frame means I'm about done dismantling a truck, and beginning to build one.

i hear you on the half done but like jason says better then not started. it is looking great man.

have on question. would you be able to roll the chassie on a tarp and sand blast it then just pour the used sand through a sifter? i know you wouldnt get all 5 bags back but you might get enough, just a thought.

keep up the great work i envy your clean frame.

I just did a quick googlemaps lookup, you're a mere 2500 miles away chef, thanks for volunteering, I'll see you in a couple days .

But yeah, exact same experience today only possibly worse because it happened two days in a row. This project is only the second time I've used a sandblaster, and I think the unit is the problem more than just the process. Its a gravity feed system with a pressurized reservoir, and you really have to be picky with how far open the air valve and the sand valve is. Either that or you just have to be smarter than the machine, and I must not be. Yesterday I had it running fairly smoothly by the end of the day but ran out of sand. Today I had to buy sand from a different company, and they only had one bag of the sand I was using, and a bunch of a different type that the guy assured me was the same sand, only coloured so it would blend in better with asphalt for people doing the blasting in their driveways. I found out very quickly it was a bigger grit, and would cut through the rust/paint much quicker, and was happy until I found out my tips weren't the right size for it. I spent about 4hrs starting the machine, blasting 6 square inches until the grit blocked the tip, cleaned the tip, and blasted another 6 inches. It was unbelievably frustrating. I saved the one bag I had of the smaller grit for the underside of the frame so I didn't have to keep lying down and standing up over and over to unclog the nozzle but the weather was looking pretty sketchy by the time I got close to the front suspension, so I stopped and quick primed what I had done. I pulled it inside to see what the weather would do, and within minutes it started to spit. Two days in a row. I suppose you could say I was lucky for getting it primed and inside before the rain so consistently but I was feeling anything but lucky after the days frustrations.
I still have to do the frame from the front suspension forward, and I'm thinking I'll bite the bullet and do the axles, too. I just keep telling myself the harder it is, the happier I'll be once I'm done. Now excuse me while I throw back what is left from Fridays whiskey bottle.

And thanks to Twisted and Jason, too, sometimes the encouragement of this site is needed even more than the info.

Wow, .... that's quite the story! Geesh, ....I hate it when 'they' tell you, "Hey, this is better", ...but don't tell ya "oh yeah, btw, it requires a tip of yea size!" lol.

Still, you will FLY once you have all you need and it's dry for a good stent!

Can't wait to see that prime and painted rust free carriage!

You are still moving along at a great speed. The sandblasting might be going slow, but now you know what you need and maybe it will go a whole faster the next time. Still looking great though.

I hear you on the rain. Seems liek nobody can get a break on it. Hang in there. Better days have to be coming.

Yep better days are coming. As soon as this blasting/painting is over I start to build a truck. I wanted to go out there and work on it again tonight, but I put in 12 hrs today, and didn't get home till now so it'll have to wait till tomorrow. Too bad, too, cause it's the nicest day for it in weeks.

Welcome aboard, Nvtoyota. I hear you on the torsion bars. I'll be replacing the entire suspension before the body goes back on. I bit the bullet and ordered the 2" Old Man Emu kit with torsion bars, new rear springs, and all new shocks. I didn't get the steering stabilizer with it, or the grease-able shackles, though, trying to cut costs during the build on things I can swap out after it's on the road. I plan on running 33's, and I wanted to swap out the gears for 4.56's or 4.88's and throw in a limited slip of some sort as well, but I'm already racking up quite the bill on this project, so that too will have to wait till after she's on the road. I kinda like the idea of driving it with factory gears for a bit so I can actually gauge the difference afterwards. Same thing goes for the steering stabilizer.

SWEEEEEEET! Sorry, btw, that I couldn't give you a 'TEST RESULTS ARE IN' shout out, Mr. Dutch! lol. I've been reading even more good things lately, from some Expedition Group in S.Africa, ... they are LOVING the kits with their newer and older Toyotas, ...and DANG IT, NOW I CAN'T FIND THE PAGE!!! grrr! lol. Stupid brain forgotededed to "Bookmark"!

Anyway, enough of that, ...CONGRATZ!

PS> I think 4wheelparts.com is having a deal on shock type stuff.... maybe they'll have a Skyjacker or Rancho, something that will 'like' the 33's better?(Not saying that'll be a problem,...just implementing some thought provocation! lol. I Just thought I'd throw that out there... (Buddy works there in Compton, CA,..... can't seem to get a hold of him though! lol)... But I've seen them for that application for like 30$ on sale!
