Quick turn around dude!
Are you carpeting over the insulation matting? I have to tear apart mine to get it SAS'd and road inspected so want to gut the interior.
I would like to rhino line it or something but I want it insulated like you've done to cut down on road noise and driver fatigue. As it's wet so often up here I don't want my carpet anymore.
EDIT///
Hey Mark I hope you don't mind but I popped off an email to 4WD Toyota Owner Magazine. I think this is a cool and interesting story.

Mark Just curious how the registration/smog is gonna work out on this thing?
registered as an assembled vehicle? registered as an 89, but going from the V6 -22 RE will you need to have it refereed? I was under the impression in CA you could put newer engines in but not older engines in..87 engine in the 89..

Thanks a lot guys! I have a few more updates, but I can't get the video uploader just now, I have to get to sleep.
I just had one terrible day... Relating to the radio install. I had it in and working and it sounded great, as always... Sounded pretty good with the new2me speakers up front too... I hook up my amplifier and suddenly, I have no sound. I pull the new to me 4-channel amplifier that was given to me and hook everything back up the way it was when it was working and I cannot get sound. It is not worth it to me to waste too much time on it, so I'm going to give it another shot tomorrow, & i may call on a couple of you for some help? I'm not sure how, but it looks like might have blown the channels in my deck...
PS, I don't plan to break the law or screw around with anything like that. I have to take it to a star station this year anyway. I have always pass smog 13 years in this truck, and yet they're asking me to do this. The same to Richard, and I would guess they are going to do it to a lot more of us who own the older vehicles. Freaking eCo fascists. Lol

Nothin? ^^^^ LOL... Just now able to get out there and I wondered if anyone knew of a way to test the deck for audio, without hooking it up to my harness. I know this is just getting ridiculous and I will not spend a full day again on this. Last time I set up a radio even with an amp it took about one and a half hours. Grrrr!

Chef, just hook it to your battery, and a speaker or two.
Are u getting power signal on the head unit... Turns on/off, plays CDs?
If any of your speakers are hooked up backwards, the head unit will short out. If you hook all speakers up backwards you should be ok, it's when you mistakenly hook 1 up wrong.

Hey RBX, how you doing brother? Basically I blew it up going wrong to the amp. But it's okay because it was still under my 4 year question free warranty and I got a credit towards most of a newer much better pioneer HD, Bluetooth streaming, uSB direct, free pre out 250 radio that was on sale on clearance for 169. So I basically paid $29.00 for a kickass upgrade. I love these pioneered X and the cool thing about this one is it has smart technology and can work with my phone where I can control most of it, and weight loss buttons . No preset buttons and basically for menu select with a icon screen and full wireless remote....
They also had a clearance on 2 Way 200 watt pioneer 4 inch speakers so I grab those two and I will be selling the perfectly good pioneer 4in hundred watt speakers for 20 bucks if anyone's interested

Glad to hear you will have tunes soon.
Things are snowy on the right coast, and I am DONE with this cold weather, done I tell you. So I have done little to nothing on the rig, but I do have selectable elockers front and rear now! Now I just need to go test this thing out.

The air compressor must of been running when you called. Glad to hear the bad experience turned out into a plus for you. Stereos is something I was never good at. Local high school kid could run circles around me on that. How fast you have turned your truck around is simply amazing.

Hey Chef, congrats on the successful swap brother! This is a little off topic but I was wondering if you could weigh in on my future locker purchase. I noticed you decided to go with spartan lockers in front and rear. I was just wondering why you went with them over all the other choices and how you feel about that choice today and if you would make it again. I currently have a Eaton TrueTrac in my rear of my 85 and i'm looking at getting a front locker to go with it. My rig is my DD but also my trail slayer. Thanks man!

Hey guys, I'm going to move on with the radio today but I have a problem. I connected everything the way it was as far as I can tell in regards to the dash harness. However, for some reason, even though they are connected, my clock and incline meter are not working. If I remember correctly they are all connected together, the climate control assembly light, the clock, and the incline meter. By Clement assembly light is working. Nothing is cut, at first I thought it was maybe just the bulbs in the incline meter... But I am NOT getting 12 volts to that plug, and with the clock not working, I'm starting to get concerned over whether or not I plugged them in in reverse, the harness connector and the climate control assembly light plug are exactly the same and exactly the same color. However, I don't remember the clock being on that same plug. What I mean is that it is a connector that you can totally remove from all three things. If I have to take it apart then so be it but to be honest I would rather just run 12 volts of switched power the both of them, if it's going to come to that. I don't really need the clock right now and well I would like to have my incline meter light up it's not absolutely necessary at the moment. Still, dang it! Lol.

Well the radio had power, the light reminder is working, I haven't hooked up the power doors or windows or mirrors at all, nor the lighter and such until I get this in. But seeing that the radio was illuminated and have power, I'm not sure. Boy it that would be great if that's all it was! Which fuse is that? I should know that already. I just don't think that I could blow that fuse and still have power to the radio :-( I'm guessing its the lighter fuse? I'll have to look at my kick panel again. Thanks a lot RBX!

yes the cig lighter is the fuse.
All you need for the radio is 12v constant (Haz/Horn fuse, wire Blue/Yellow stripe), 12V Ignition (Cig fuse, wire Green/Red stripe) and Ground (White/Black stripe). Make sure you are getting a good ground.

Hey buddy, I just realized something when looking up in there. The alarm guy tied in too I believe the cigarette lighter in a couple of things. That set of connectors with quick disconnects are still there. I doubt they are severed so I guess that's probably about it, but I will keep fishing. The incline meter and climate control assembly and I believe one other thing all come off of one connector that is plugged into the main harness towards the top. Actually it comes out right off of the main harness with one of those two prong grey connectors. Considering the clock and incline meter are not working, I'm not sure if those are tied together , but the alarm guy also did Ian to my lights for the parking light flash portion of the alarm. I think I will finish the radio and then have him install the alarm again and go from there. I don't have any of my mirrors are any of that hooked up so I'm hoping that's not the problem, but the ground seems to be fine because the radio worked fine yesterday when I did it Instagram video
