I am new to yota tech. I recently bought my truck. It had 200k on it when I got it. I've done some upgrades like tires, shocks, add a leaf, camper shell, torsion bars, timing chain, water pump, oil pump, and new plugs. But I need some advice. I developed a leak in the exhaust manifold. Found that someone has messed with it before due to a stud being replaced with a bolt. One other stud is bent and another missing. Now that I got the manifold off should I go ahead and go back with a header? The original manifold has nothing wrong with it. If header is really worth it then which one is the best for the money?

Oh yeah, how do y'all like that camper? I had it on a 92 Toyota I had back in high school. Held onto it for all these years hoping I would eventually buy another truck like my old one to put it on. I know its not the same color, but maybe one day I'll paint it. Funny thing is my truck in high school was gray. Lol.

I'm gonna give you some added advice...
Headers: you get what you pay for. I have had 3 different headers on my truck and I have only noticed a power increase from only one.
The first one I owned I acquired from eBay. it was no different then running a manifold.
The second one I bought new off EBay too. Here's a link to it. http://bit.ly/192bRz3 once again no difference.
The 3rd and final header I bought was a polished Doug Thorley TriY header. It's just down right awesome. I wouldn't trade it for anything. It produces really good mid range power kinda like a power band on a 2 stroke motorcycle. It was around $500.00 when I purchased it. I've had it for about 5 years now and had no issues.
I've never tried it but I've heard great things about the LcEngineering header too.

If you do decide to get a good exhaust then please don't just rig stuff together lol. I've had several different mufflers and pipes with all sorts of sizes. In my years of owning Toyota's I've learnt one thing. These little 22R and RE engines rely on Back pressure. Here's what I would suggest.
if you run a catalytic converter then I'd suggest using a Magnaflow high flow converter.
From the header to the converter if run a 2 1/4" pipe. From converter to muffler I'd run a 2 1/4" pipe. I'd run a 2" tail pipe.
I prefer a Flowmaster muffler but that's your choice to. Some people like Borla, Magnaflow, and so on...
I've ran several different size pipes and the setup I just mention has been the best. Although I'm running Dual 2" tailpipes. Here's a video of the sound if my truck. It sounds really good and I have no drone noise in my cab.
Feel free to ask anymore questions. That's what we're here for

That does bring up a question. I hunt a lot! And that makes me a little torn about total exhaust set up. I want the truck to be as quiet as possible. I know that is not what most people want. Your truck sounds good, but mine needs to like a Prius. Haha! Well maybe a little more sound.

Should I keep the stock muffler to achieve the quietest exhaust, or is there an aftermarket muffler that helps with performance and is really quiet? I haven't even begun to research this so any advice or tips on where to start looking would be appreciated!
