not exactly true, i fit my 84 with 39.5's in a garage, the roof is only at 6'-4" and if you need it lower you can either let the air out or keep the stock 31's or 235's to swap on to get it in....

Killer man I bet you will probably get it done way before I do though. But you know if you already have 2 share the wealth, I bet you could break it down into a flat rate box right HAHA.

I will be trying to only run 3-5" suspension lift, and I am planning on running 33-35's on the street, and save the 36-37's for offroad, so I wll only be sitting at 4-7" of lift total. It will be close but I think it should barely fit. I know I just barely tag the high backs on my snowboard bindings when they are on the roof rack, and I want to say that is at least 7 inches, with the rack.

Edit: this post made me nervous after I read your sig, so I broke out the measuring tape The highest point on the rack of the truck is at 72" the lowest point on the garage door is at 82" so I should be good. Are the OME 860's stock LC coils or are they lift coils? What do you think of them with the SAS?

I have been drooling for a LONG I am so glad to finally start working. I need to get working before I can really say anything, but the fab work and budget scared me away from the project for a long, because I have never used a welder. Admittedly I a lot of help from my dad, and brother, but if I can figure this out anybody can do it, I guess we just need to wait and see how it goes.

My friend, if you have never used a welder and have no mechanical experience there is no way you can get an engine swap done in a weekend.

Not trying to be insulting or burst your bubble, but just make sure you've got another ride ready.

It's good to be ambitious, just be ready for snags...

you under estimate the wealth of knowledge he has behind him, meaning our dad, he taught me everything i know and i am proud to say i did RUF's and chevies in one weekend and then a motor swap (from 22r to buick oddfire) in a day, and i am only half the mechanic he is. 40 year diesel mechanic, and he built this:

all in his garage!! it is frickin SWWWEEEEEEEETTTTTTT!!!!

and if i have to i will come home for a weekend and lend a hand!!!

got to be ready for next summer cause i am going to drive home and wheel with you one way or another

Like he said I will have good help, but I am planning for some sangs because my lack of knowledge tends to drag some projects out, living with a walking car dictionary defiantly will help though. My parents do have spare cars I can steal for a few days, if need be like I mentioned earlier though. I could probably get it done in a weekend, especially if ryan is in town, but I don't feel like betting my job on it, so I do have a back up plan. I will set a timer when I get going just in case haha.

seriously if i put a timer on my buick swap i would say i got maybe 20 hrs into it.

I will time how long it takes for the 4.3 swap on thursday or friday and then you can see if you can beat your older bro...lol bet you and dad cant...(that will get him motivated...haha) seriously though i cant wait to see how it turns out and i will try and get you parts ASAP cause i am trying to have the one tons and 4.3 in by memorial day for a good 3 day wheeling expedition!!! we are going to try and run a trail that ripped my spring perch off last year so we will see how it does this year.... and got to drink the keg for my B-day!!!

found this today while "working"
http://winaldl.joby.se/

it is a free downloadable scanner software for a PC and instructions on how to read your ALDL right off your PC!!!! alot better than just a code reader!!! this would be a good way to tune a TBI to max performance, it only lets you read not input but still helpful in diagnostics!!

Dude if my truck was half as built as yours I would be whoring pics of it all over the place. I have been watching your build for a while, sorry I will be coping some ideas, like moving the gas tank that is sick

Not much to see yet. I have 2 more weeks of school, then I will actually have enough time to breath let alone work on my truck.

I guess since you asked, sorry I love looking at my truck haha

Here it is when I got started:

I bought it totaled it had a minor flop and I think it hit a tree with the roof. The fender, and door had to be pulled out, the windshield sunroof, and mirror had to be replaced, and the roof in front of the sunroof was about 2-3" lower then it should be(big thanks to my dad for help with the body work apparently I even suck at bondo, and sanding.) total to fix it $45 after a mirror fiasco that cost me $15 just to return the wrong part, plus $200 for glass

the only mods I have done to this point are
6.5" pioneers in the doors

6x9's in the factory locations

cobra CB run through stock front speakers

and my favorite mod to date guess what it is HAHA.

oh yah and my sweet intake fix done in a parking lot, sad thing is that it actually runs better now

I de chromed the whole truck except for the bumpers, but it is dark and raining so you can't see it in the picks I took.

The OME680 is a regular version of 2 1/2 In. lift for LC. It's also not the same height in pairs. You might try ordering them as two left or right side coils I had to use spacer on one side to level it. The springs works well with Bilstein 5100 shocks. I still have four RS9000 that I don't use anymore forsale if you like them better.
I started out with old AllPro springs then moved to Marlin 4" springs.

Keep in mind also that the springs wil take a while to settle to the actual height.

How well do the 35's fit with the 860's with your rear bumper? I am thinking about going with sock LC coils, and 36's, with a customer rear bumber, and maybe extended links, but not if I can avoid it. Did you notice any sag issues when you moved the tank and added the tire carrier? that seems like a lot of weight back there, but I am considering the same setup.

I don't have any issues. My cargo area is pretty empty most of the time except for a compressor and air tank.
You need the extended endlinks from AllPro. It'll help you tilt the diff towards the t-case.
Look for front d-shaft to extend for the rear also. the one you have don't have double carden joint to deal with the vibration with that much lift. That means you also have to change the flange on the T-case side or drill new holes on the flange that you have.

Dude you seriously need to move back down here, or Seattle or somewhere within driving distance. speaking of getting stuck though I need to figure out front tow points when I do the sas. How did you mount your front bumper? did you have to custom make brackets and things, or just bolt it on in stock locations. I think I am going to build something similar. I am really contemplating saving up for a tube bender and going that rought I need to build sliders steps and a rear bumper to fit around the new tires to. Oh and reply to your PM's because you are to cool for myspace now.

for my bumper i used the stock holes and then some, i also plated the whole fornt cross member and total have the 4 stock bolt locations and 4 more grade 8 3/8" bolts in strategic locations holding it on so it wont go anywhere. i had seen pics of too many of the bolt on winch mounts bend if not reinforced so i figured what it would dake thwen doulbled it.

as for tow points i went to the local tractor supply (wish they had a big-R here) and got some trailer d ring kits and welded them on. IIRC corectly harbor freight has them too, and they have really good tire irons and reciever hooks too that were cheap.

and i am on this site and myspace all the time but i had to get rid of myspace IM cause this is my work computer and the network admin threw a fit about it!!

i am just busy right now trying to get my 4.3 and one tons in by memorial day for my B-day!!! but i will talk to you when i come home on the 15th

My bad, I missed your post. I am hoping to start working on it after next week. FINALS SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I decided to do the SAS first, so it kind of depends on when my bro's 1-tons are done, so he can get a chance to build some stuff for the runner. Any help would be appreciated I really want to get this done, so I can hit the trail, I was aiming for memorial day, but with shipping and crap I am doubting it will happen

well i dont think i will have my toy axles off by this weekend. this 4.3 swap is taking a little longer than planned, and a side note when you get a donor vehicle stay away from astro vans they suck getting stuff out of them!!!

I should get the gears set up this week and trying to get the truck running by thursday before i leave but prob wont even get to start getting the one tons under the toy until the week after i really wanted to have this done by my b-day so i am still pushing for it

That is kind of funny you say that though dad was actaully telling me to look at astros, because they are a big enough pain that the engine would still be in it at pull and save. I bet you can get it done, it is amazing what a case of red bull and some motivation can accomplish. I am pumped to see this done, so you can help me do mine. By the way you are probably going to get dragged along to help me get an axle this week end I am getting pumped.

Oh and what happened to doing it in a weekend haha?
Time to beat on the 4.3 swap
just some brotherly motivation
