WOOOOOOOOOT! LOL.... OMSFTW!!!!

Glad it worked out, seriously, Jerry. Do you find the ride a lil quick/stiff on the bumps? I KNOW, not as stiff as hitting hard on the bumpstop... But just 'a lil jarring' ???

Wow, cuz mine is definitely different! I think it feels WAY better when I have 600+# in the rear/trunk/bed........ It's REALLY soft and incredibly stable, compared to when I had ANY weight in the rear beforehand. Also, when empty, it's pretty rigid! I wonder if I should have gotten the 14"x100# ones and cut them now....But then, when I STUFF IT, for extended camping, etc., ...........it probably wouldn't handle the weight as well, ya know?

Glad you're feeling good about yourself! lol.

when I was searching last night for shorter ones, the rates were starting at 500lbs. Joe's shocks are definitely almost new, and were tough to compress to get them back into place.

5''OD x 8'' start at 500lb
9 1/2'' @ 400lb
11'' @100lb
13'' @ 100lb
16'' @100lb

so.....I think I may have hit the old "sweet spot" on these with the 11'' 125lb ones.

I hear ya... and I think my OLD AS DIRT RANCHO GS5000'S are part of the problem! They're for a 4" lifted Long bed 4x4, anyway... so while I should have more flex, I might not have as much 'STUFF', and they're known to be STIFF AS BOARDS, anyhow! lol. When I go over a speed bump, I still feel quite the JARRING, ya know? Up front, with the new stuff's and relaxed T-bars and 2" lift and Edelbrock Positive Gas Charge Shocks.... it's pretty cush! lol. However, I think the 125# part of the combination of things has SOMETHING to do with it. It's just that most that I see running them don't complain of any 'stiff' ride, ya know? Time to investigate! lol.

Joe, ..... GREAT WORK, ....it's coming along, Mista! lol.

yup...ZUK mod...is good.

on to other things.

antenna was removed a few years ago by me....a non-functioning electric one....can't find one to fit it because everything I find is electric. ordered one for my year truck and hoped for the best. it worked out. from CRUTCHFIELD.

scored a massive find on ebay....Joe (and I) are now volunteer firemen and ambulance / rescue dudes.....so....to match what I have in MY truck, we found a mobile scanner for his...same scanner, different badging (Uniden...mine versus REALISTIC...Joe's). for now, it is using his new antenna....have to order a splitter and additional wire. it's OK...I've done this mod before...teehee

as a result, the CB radio we installed last week had to be moved to make way for the scanner. th CB is now mounted as far back on top of the console/ arm rest / ammo box as it could get. it is not hard-wired in as it will VERY INFREQUENTLY be used, but nonetheless has a cig-lighter adapter on it anyway....

and no, it does not get in the way of my arm.

antenna will just be a magnet one for now, until we get fancy.

need a shift boot. trying to come up with ideas that cost less than $50 of buying one on ebay.

sooooo....on to the subject of the shifter boot.

Joe's is pretty nasty looking. but the whole truck inside and out was pretty nasty when we got it, so this is no different.

his shifter boot has been sitting in a box for the last 3 years and I dug it out this morning to get a good look at it. I have no clue how to sew and really would like to try to help myself in this one.

shift boots I find when searching are either "universal", equally terrible looking, expensive ($50 or so), or incomplete (as in one Joe found that is new and about $25 but does not include the metal ring around the bottom)

the one Joe has looks like it's either original or a pretty good replacement in that the fitment is good and the material is intact (no worn out areas). other than that, it looks like hell.

probably will soak it and scrub it and see what it looks like afterwards and te maybe buy some fabric paint. black is the color preference.

wife went to work.....teehee....so I was able to soak the shift boot in the sink, scrub it with ORANGE GOOP and a scotch-brite pad and was able to get all the paint off of it...seemed like a latex paint was on it.

stuffed it full of newspapers right now. I would let it dry in the sun, but....no sun.

did NOT scrub too vigorously around the ring, because I easily scrubbed through it. that area will be covered in the plastic surround, so I'm not going to worry about that too much.

Looks good. Hey is that scanner in the way of the right leg? I've wanted to get one of those for mine too. And yup, I know what "mod" your talking about with the radio antenna for the scanner too.

nope. not in the way.
measured it out with the seat all the way forward to make sure it would fit well.
my leg rests against it. it's in there solidly.

Joes truck is coming along nicely. Glad to see you and him working together on being rescue dudes. So many kids any more would have to look in the dictionary to find out what dad is.

On the boot, you might be able to come up with a way of freshing it up. Looks like it cleaned up nicely.

thank you VERY MUCH!!

searching fabric paint as we speak.

basically it's like suade right now, soft and pliable. so I need something that can be used on that kinda fabric. I've found a few so far.

OK...ventured out and got some paint. As anyone local knows, going to Berwick is a workout for the suspension....in other words, a good test for the springs. they did fine. I'm satisfied and ready to say the project was a 100% success.

my other 100% success was buying black VINYL and FABRIC paint from Auto-Zone($7.49). although it smells very strongly, it covered and did what I wanted and needed it to do.

before I left I had to do a small repair. The console surround was cracked when we got it. super glue did not hold and I should have braced it inside when I 1st did the repair 2 years ago (or more). so anyways, I used a scrap piece of plastic and bondo and now it's together for good. just a little gap. we'll live.

left the de-skanked shift boot dry in the sun for few hours.....

here's the paint

the finished product

needs to air out quite a bit for now. very happy with the end result.

your neighbor doesn't like me. she rejected my advances. maybe she's just playing hard to get. for some reason, that scene from KINGPIN just popped into my head. I'm gonna go stare at the sun to burn that image out.

I can tell you 100%......I had the cables in the right spots, it's just that there are clips adjacent to where they hook on.....have to figure out which direction the controls are and then snap the cables in their holders. too confusing to explain.
