88 toyota flatbed troubles
I've been playing around with the idea of building a flatbed for my 88 single cab toyota pickup I would love to have a more off road look to it than just a plain jane flat be can anyone give me ideas and also I don't have access to welder pipe benders I would either have to go to a fab shop or rent said tools all I have available is a grinder and my wallet all advice welcome

Check out the Fab Shop forum on here, there's a lot of builds that you can draw inspiration from. You'll definately need to buy or rent a welder, (i cant imagine paying a fabricator to custom build one woukd be cheaper)you can get by with the grinder, I've built 2 flat beds and am working on an offroad/expedition/camping trailer and made all the cuts with a grinder. If you can afford a metal chop saw it would be worth the investment, it will save you lot of time, and make cutting 45° cuts a lot easier. Also get some good clamps, a vice and some of those 90° magnets for holding your project in place while welding, it will make life a lot easier!
Here's a couple links to some flatbed builds, I like failrated's flat bed, its simple, sturdy, and all square and rectangle tube, so you dont need a tubing bender.
