We did this without the cap around, but it "should" fit back on. Goal is to have it read for next Wednesday/thurs evening run

Havent updated in a bit, been mostly hanging out over on irate4x4...

Well after a summer/fall of wheeling, the truck that was bought for a good motor...now needs a motor. Has very low compression in cylinders 3&4 and likes to knock a bit.

We found a good running 22r for wicked cheap, and have a buddy willing to sell off his spare propane setup.

A friend who runs a shop is turning this custom cab into a DD with a 3.4 so he wanted the engine gone. Friends with nice shops are a good thing!

Motor Gank.

And back to my little shop. It will get valve cover gasket replaced and pull all the emissions off of it. Nothing to fancy.

It still runs..

Cap back on, doors and fenders back on, we ended up needing to cut the fastbak bars off for now. Well we do them when the trucks over at the benders.

The best way to get into the back seats now, it out the back.

Started stripping the "new" motor and found it needed a timing chain (broken guide, hope cover is ok) Well swap that out next and get the propane parts fitted then start swapping it over.

That bumper hoist is sick. Everytime I see it in use, I want to make one.

Got the intake back with the injector holes closed up, now just waiting on the rest of the propane parts.

Few updates

Made a "muffler" by welding some washers in a exhaust pipe, sort of like lolipops for motorcycle drag pipes.. they work ok.

Leftover parts for S & G

Propane parts

Tank Mounted

This part was a little funky. I dont think this is a stock radiator and the neck stuck way out, and the owner didnt want to move the battery or get a new rad, so this it how we came up with mounting the mixer. It did t fit just going straight off the intake. (radiator hose has been trimmed)

Ended up needing a new regulator and shes alive!

Ripped it around my place a few time, everything seems good.

Heres a few photos from the first real shake down from last week:

If your friends dont unlock your hubs while youre not looking, are they really your friends?

Moving its old engine out back

Few clips from the woods

Now back to where we left off. Front springs need a few more leafs and hes got a set of 5.29s to put in it.

Little update. 5.29 gears are in, taking the crawl ratio down to 108:1. Made a huge difference in crawling.

One of the knucklestuds was broken, i was able to weld a washer and nut on to it and zip it out.

He got a good deal on a used hydro ram and taped box, so that went on too. I dont have finished pictures but seems to be working well. We are going to add a cooler to see if that helps at all.

And painted the rear drive shaft like a crayon for S&Gs.

When we put the used gears in Jan of 23, the rear diff had two 1/2 chipped teeth. With not enough time to order parts, we tossed it in (didnt even clean the goop off) It made it a whole year through 10+ wheelin trips and a summer of logging. But, it finally broke yesterday. We are all surprised it made it this long. New parts on order, well start fixing it next week.

Broken ring gear..

New 5.29, $268 for the r&p and the setup kit, Amazon had it listed as "nation powertrain" and it showed up motive gear brand.

We re used the solid spacer and the spool, and used zero shims under the pinion, which seemed weird, but its where it wanted to be.

I forgot, we also did 7/16 hub bolts and a 5th stud a bit ago too.

In october he sheared off his high steer arm. . 5th stud kit sitting on the bench at home. We were able to winch the truck back up to a workable space, easy out two of the bolts and pulled a lower stud from each side to get it back together and out of the woods. The group kept going and a few of us stayed back to help.

That night we got it fixed to wheel the next day.. Welded nuts to the broken studs and got them out. Pulled the knuckle to get all the broken pieces out, cleaned it up with new/used studs and a new trunion bearing and its ready for day two.
