86 4runner gets a fresh 22re
A friend bought this big first gen and the motor doesnt have much compression. Truck has normal toyota stuff. AllPro sas parts/bumpers/sliders. duals/ 5.29s and 40s. This truck is tall.
Plan is to swap in a fresh longblock, and get it back on the road and headed to the ice cream stand with the top off asap.

Put it on some 31 to fit in the garage, then dropped the front to the ground for easier reaching.

We pulled a motor out of the pile out back and sent it to a local machine shop to clean up. They bored it .040 over and and assembled the lower end. Same with the head.
The motor from the pile was a little crusty, we gave the machine shop a different head to use...

Clean parts back from the machine shop

The motor that's in the truck still runs, and will go on the stand when this is finished for a rebuild.

Comon over! lol
Old motors out and stripped. Didnt see anything jumping out as broken when we took it apart. Top plastic part of the metal timing chain guides were broken. oil filter had ZERO oil in it when it came off. and some metal in the pan...

moving parts from old motor to new motor. Made sure to use metal timing guides...

Removing the pilot bearing with the good ole bread method.

ERG and PAIR blocked off with LCE plates. and motors back in the truck.

Few small things to button up, but it runs again!

Trucks back for a little transfer case love, its making grinding noises when the front case is engaged. (But still running awesome)

Got the cases pulled and the adapter off, seems all adapter bearings have a ton of play in them. Will order new bearings and get it back together
