Yeah Bro, that should work out... I hopefully will be off work by then.

Do you have your CB wired up at all? What are you gonna wire it to?

i havent even started wiring it up yet. I was just going to splice into the cigarette lighter for power. And i need to modify my ashtray a little to compensate for the length of the cb. Im not worried about it looking pretty for now, i just want it to be ready to go for the toy drive.

Let me know if your not off work by then, and we can meet up a little later if needed. I just need to be home by like 9 or something.

I should be off work earlier than that, if im not, ive probably fallen off a roof or something LOL

What i would do if i was you, would be run the hot to your battery, can even tuck it nicely and cleanly away so your parents wont b*tch ;-)

The hot to your battery makes it so there's less interference for it to get juice, its supposed to help with signal as well.

The dash for the ashtray spot is easy enough to take apart and do that, its how mine is installed as well.

You run your coax up through your rig yet?

I dont have enough wire to run it to my battery, otherwise i would go for that. I will eventually be adding lights and stuff, so i will rewire it then, but the cig lighter is good for now.
And no i havent run it, but i will go back and run it through a good spot once i get a chance.
I will probably end up doing quite a bit over winter and spring break.

EDIT: I have torn the dash apart a couple times, so tomorrow i will be pulling out the center peice and doing a little
I love how easily they come apart, just a few screws and snaps.

You said its on the rear bumper? idk how you did it, but i ran mine next to the tailgate, cut a hole in the plastic, ran it behind the inside of the plastic side panel, then under the carpet all the way up and it goes into the plastic of my dashboard, under the steering, and to the middle of the dash!

so it sounds like you just shut the cable in your tailgate? Thats what i was planning on doing. I was planning on running it through where you did, that seems to be the most common spot.

haha yeah exactly. I got the uniden 520, the antenna is an 8 foot fiberglass whip i got off craigslist for $7. And i know it doesnt matter, but i used a cheap radioshack antenna mount, and a firestik heavy duty spring.

LOL good point.

I like my firestik... You'll see it tomorrow... its a 2 foot, its about... 1.5' from the top of my runner. I had a 4 ft... but it was HUGE and would smack everything, it measured 8'9'' from the ground and since it was fiberglass pole, it cant be bent over easily. you should see the looks i got on the ferry boat last time i was going to whidbey... **kathang**kathang**kathang**kathang*kathang* hmmm i wonder how many internal ribs the ferry has... ;-)

I would like to give a big thank you to BirdBrain for helping me out, and doing the majority of my cb install. It turned out great, and only took about an hour and a half.

And he also totally sold me on the badland Bumper.
