Im not sure how it functions yet, but it feels solid. And im pretty sure that it will bolt up to where the ash tray is EXACTLY. If i pull out the ash tray mounting stuff anyway, i will try to get it in this week. Oh, and it even has an in line fuse, im not sure how many come with one.

And i have a question, i can splice this in to the power from the sterio? I have heard that you can do it, but does it have any down falls? I dont really want to buy the supplies to get power from the battery.

You can use the stereo or the cigarette lighter really, but for the most efficiency IIRC straight to the + and one straight to the - on the battery.

Worst case is you get engine noise. Just make sure you use a good ground(like the battery...lol).

Rememeber to have your CB set up right using an SWR meeter or you could fry the CB, do not hit the transmit button till you have the thing set up or it will damage the crystals.

Truck looks much better with the new rubber, reminds me of mine when I got it.

So do you know if just any off road shop could tune it, or maybe car toys? I dont have money for one, and i was just hoping to have someone do it for me, or borrow one.

Today i tore apart my dash and tried to decide the best mounting spot for my cb. I think the ash tray is going to be my best bet. I have a couple questions though. The ash tray has a light running to it...

...does that light have sufficient power to run my cb on?

I was also wondering the best way to run my coax cable to my rear bumper. Would it hurt it to run it through the tail gate? (as in closing it between the body and tailgate) I know that would be the easiest way.

I also just picked up an 8 foot whip antenna for $7, and an swr meter for $5 off of craigslist. I will be replacing the rusty spring with my new firestik heavy duty one.

the whip is light grey, its just a little dirty. And now all i need to do is learn how to use an swr meter.
