1994 sr5 pickup rebuild

It's looking good. Nice work on the frame. The gas tank depends on your budget and whether it leaks. They are pricey for a new one with new internals. If it works and didn't leak, you could clean and paint it and re use it.

It doesn't leak, but is really rusty. I think I'll just brush it off and paint it. The truck has been abused for a number of years, so I'm going to make it have an easy retirement. Lol I can't do much today since a cold front moved in. Hope to resume rust removal and repair tomorrow. Spring break at school YEAH! But it snowed[IMG]

My birthday is at the end of this month and I'm hoping for my tortion bars to be removed so I can work on the rest of everything. I hate waiting. It might be a couple of weeks before it's done, but it will.

On your tank, give it some firm taps on the top part and make sure you don't punch thru. It may just look bad but I have seen tanks that looked better and it just tapping with my finger I put some holes in the tank.
I would suggest pulling the fuel assembly out and seeing what the tank looks like inside as well. I have seen some tanks that look pretty nasty in there. A lot of rust build up. I clean mine out soaking them in white vinegar and then coating them with Red Kote. You can buy a new tank as well. Also check to see that your vent and return lines are not clogged starting all the way from the fuel pump assembly to under the hood. Seen them clogged several times as well.
Be gentle on the fuel pump assembly. That is a hard and expensive part to find. On all of my builds below, I have information on cleaning the fuel system and what to look for in the first few pages.

My vent lines aren't clogged. They are rusted away. I will be replacing all lines to the motor. They will all be stainless and to prevent any ruptures the rubber lines will all get new clamps. I also went out and checked my tank. I couldn't bust through anywhere, but I did leave a couple of dents. It it still okay? And the inside is clean as well. Can't get the iPad through that tiny hole, but would have posted pics.

Gotta love that east coast rust belt. Almost every vehicle I owned, that was used, when I lived in Pittsburgh ended up having rust like that if it didnt have it already.
I had a 2001 silverado that looked like that underneath after 50k miles and 5 winters in PA. And I wash my vehicles weekly in the winter.

Spring break has been a long time coming. I hate the cold, but it had to come on the days I have off. The biggest reason it is so late is because the district I'm in missed 27 days because of snow, and 5 days because of our water crisis. It made world news! I'm not sure if you heard about it, but a chemical leak went into the elk river. It then went into the treatment plant and into the lines around the counties. It was known as MCHM.

I had my first accident today

I tried parallel parking here[IMG]

When I tried turning too far, this is what happened to my parts truck

Mom wasn't too mad, but dad is still yet to know. He will find out soon enough.

I'm hoping to take my drivers test around May or so. This is something I still need a little practice on. I can get both tires near the curb within 8 inches every time. I am glad that I can do that. I wrecked around the beginning of practicing.

Finally finished the shearing. Takes two or three weeks on average to do all of them. Had some time today to do some work. Got the rear diff leak patched and primed. Will have to take pics tmr. Got dark on me since I got home from school at 3:30p.m. And went to work at 4:00. I got home from work at 7:30, and went straight to it. I used some DEVCON motor head thread repair putty to patch the hole. Put my primer over top. I also was able to put the front of the truck up on jack stands and get the tires off and 1 tortion bar unbolted from the frame. Still need to unhook from a-arm. Get pics tmr hopefully around 6 to 8 before sunsets.

Good work on the truck. Love where you live...looks really pretty there.
I was like...how did he hit that truck with all that room...till I saw you were practicing parking.
One word of advice. When you get your license...never give in to any friends talking you into doing stuff in your truck you dont want to. Many friend has been talked into destroying there truck by "friends". Be careful at all times.
Trick to paralleled parking..trusting your mirrors. They say while driving you should check each mirror every 5-10 seconds....make it a habit.
