ya door panels look sick. im thinking about doing that and pre cutting some holes for 6x9s. what did you do as far as mounting the aluminum?

 

i drilled a hole every 6 inches all around the aluminum panel, then set it on the door, marked the holes and drilled into the door and used screws to hold it together, i think 18 screws on each door

 

found the pics of my dads old 79 that got me into toyotas today i would do anything to get this pickup back, he sold it back in 05 because it needed a clutch and he needed the money. still lives about 20 miles away, its blue now tho, also anyone notice the rims? if i can find the pic of it right after he painted it his custom camo then ill post it too.

Thanks I Might try and get it back… but its either that 79 or my 86, idk yet. And idk where I'm putting it, its 10 inches wide and tall so probly on the wall of my shop

Yea my dad saved the rims and put them on his wagoneer, then I traded him for my bday, I love those rims!

 

yeah mine are pretty similar and i love em too, theyve been pretty solid rims. who makes yours?

thats cool, mine are american racing. im thinking about getting those cheep procomp rims tho, not sure if they would hold up or not tho

 

waiting to get new center main bearings, they sent me 2 center bearings for the cap but not the block side, so while im waiting on those i bought 2 three wheelers for $40 , i dont think i can ever have enough projects lol

ok so i got a BIG question. the new bearings that i jsut got tinight are the same as the old ones, the guy that i was on the phone with said all the toyota bearings they have the indentation for the center bearing is either in the center or both to the right. my block center bearing spot takes a indentation to the left, but i only got the wide bearings to the right. will i be ok using a narrower bearing for the center that will work or will it screw it up? and does anyone know why my motor is so different?

 

figured out my bearing problem, now i got another, torqued down the crank in the right sequence and it will not turn at all with all my weight on it (180lbs). even if only 1 cap is torqued it still wont turn. its stock size bearings, stock size crank, anyone know whats up?

WHAT WAS THE ISSUE?

 

OMGOSHHHHHHHHHH! I had posted up a response that took a while......... Then read your last post again and didn't read it carefully enough... so I ERASED MY POST! grrrrrrr! LOL.

OK< so, ....... Your crank was not ground AT ALL?

If not, and you have bearings for even a '10/10' grind.... I would THINK that could cause a lot of resistance. Why? Because you're putting a thicker bearing in for a crank that is supposed to be, now, smaller in diameter(just saying IF that happened).

I had lil difficulty turning over my donor long block at the 'yard' with 2 spun bearings... So YES, something is way wrong.

Sometimes, people mix up the caps(don't mark which came off which bearing.... And THEY SHOULD be marked/numbered... )....

Can you get a pic of the bearings, installed, when you pull the caps and crank out again?

(PS> Remove the caps in the proper sequence as well.)

Hmmmmm's....

1. Maybe the caps are in the wrong place?

2. OR, the crank was NOT surfaced properly and you got an issue with it being out of round?

3. OR, the bearings are for 20/20 grind on a crank that is not ground.... make sense?

 

Far as the "Stock Crank with 10/10 Bearings" portion... Imagine a 20oz Coke Bottle trying to fit into a 12oz. Foam Soda Cooler(You know, the kind that you hold in your hand that keep the drink cool... that say things like, "I don't mind the work! It's the 8 hour wait to go home!" hehe)

 

Are you using factory toyota bearings or aftermarket?

 

Its a stock crank, hasn't been machined and I'm using stock size toyota bearings
