seems like i remember you replaceing the slave cylinder not to long ago, yeah?... does it help any if you pump the clutch pedal a few times?...Is there any fluid leaks? I had a pin hole in my softline and it was acting similair to what you described...if not, Id try bleeding the clutch lines again, it seems weird that youd have problems with air in the lines this long after replacing the slave though...
glad to hear you got the yota running again, sounds like you just got a few small bugs to work out and it should be good to go!

I've read on occasion about HG's being ordered by 20over specs, etc...

Not sure if you'd seen the same thing... BUT, while you might not want to hear this......... IT HAPPENS! I believe I rebuilt my last motor, doing much of the machining and hot tanking and ALL of the assembly, PRETTY TIGHT... Yet, with an OEM HG, 3 minutes into running, "PUFF the Magic White Cloud Dragonnnnn".... We could not figure out what happened(a buddy of mine and myself, nor my machinist).... POSSIBLY the Head Cog Keys got mixed up because I LIGHTLY decked that new to me block, then MY MACHINIST put them back in... I had them laid out like they should go... but he couldn't remember. Seemed like it was TOO tall on the front... I couldn't get them out safely, so I shaved it down a tiny bit, VERY carefully, with cardboard over the head while I filed.... NOT EVEN sure that did anything,.....cuz it seemed to be TOIGHT like a toiger, lol... MIGHT have been the HG..

REGARDLESS, in the end, my buddy had been using Fel-Pro HG's for our rigs for 10 years... NEVER ONCE had a failure when torqued properly( "Fel-Pro Permatorque".... Have the part number in my thread somewhere"... )........... 7600 Miles later.... all is well. It was VERY strange... And yet, MAYBE the Cog was kinked... Maybe it wasn't allowing the head to seat all the way down... SO, when we torqued the head bolts to 63#.... they were, but the HEAD to HG mating surface at the front by the cover might not have been meeting up.... However; We used a Digital depth meter and many other methods to check how deep the cog hole went in the head compared to the COG itself, then accounting for HG compression after Torquing of the Head Bolts... JUST DIDN'T add up... but I ground the forward one down anyhow.(I TRIED to get them out, safely... but they were not budging... )... To this day, I DO NOT think that they had anything to do with it... Rather, it was a FREAK happenstance.

I had nothing to do with your rebuild... So obviously I can't speak as to specs, etc... I would just assume you all did everything to THE TEE! .............. So IMHO..... I personally would at least give the Permatorque Fel-Pro a chance before SELLING the thing,

I also have yet to do a 20r/22r Hybrid.. SO, I can't say as to whether or not the deck was done to the tee like Engnbldr's TED and TOD have spoken on many times(Big Mike, Putney's, LCE, Japanese Auto Center, Pirate, ih8mud, 4x4wire and many more have written on as well..... But again, I would totally put my dollars against donuts that you guys planned all that out, considering it's a 'mods needed' type Swap.

Whatcha think, man?

PS> SHOULD HAVE SAID FIRSTLY, ... 'Sorry, man ' I KNOW how you feel.. it's stressful and VERYYYYYYYYY frustrating to the point of denting the fridge!

was a fel pro, pretty sure the hg was prone to fail from the get go, not the type i usually run, the ones with full metal aroung each hole, not like this where it was just around the cylinders, gonna check the head tomorrow

Yeah, the Permatorque HG I used has that metal... it's just got a layer of graphite or whatever it is above and below the metal in the other places.

Anyway, sorry that happened! Glad you're looking to have it sussed BEST WISHES on a quick and PERMANENT FIX!

you don't really need a fan shroud. i went an entire summer (average in the 90's, a/c going almost all the time) without a shroud and had no issues. in fact, that's what i'm driving, now that my electric fan has issues.

It's REALLY a difficult thing to answer, ya know? No one wants to be be even partially responsible for you paying to fix it up EVEN MORE and keep it.... only to find more issues down a near by proverbial 'road'... And, really, it's something you have to decide wholly on your own, buddy... So look at these semantics;

1. You've put LOTS of work into this, getting it how you want it
2. You've 'modified or repaired' MANY things that 'were' wonky.... but are now sound.
3. You've got NO WAY to know, 100%, whether whatever you get next might take a crap on ya quickly
4. BUT, ...... it's just a 'thing'... there are many more 'things' out there... And maybe you'll get lucky and get a problem free one for a price you can afford that will just run and run for 150K without an issue(NO, I'm NOT being a smart ass... When I think about mine being a PITA at times... I remember, I bought it with 100K nearly on the dot... 12 YEARS AND 154k MILES LATER... I finally DECIDED to dig in there full on. Didn't HAVE TO, either... But it was 'wanting' a FULL rebuild, so I did.... Then, maybe 5K in repairs and mods... It's back to, IMHO, a respectable/dependable rig after a full onslaught of 'drama' lol/1,400$ of which was MY FIRST MACHINISTS 'flush down the drain'.... Much of which was still reusable and wound up in/on this motor now)... But then again, MAYBE YOU WONT get "That ONE Lucky Charm" rig, ya know?

The bottom line is this; DO YOU WANT TO SELL IT? Or KEEP IT? If it's the former... NOTHING you put into it is likely to make you feel good about it... (It usually, CLEARLY, means someone wants something else... but just hates to part with all that work they've put in).... If it's the 'latter'.. Well, then put 100% FOCUS on 'NECESSITY WORK' and 'PROBLEM-PROOFING', etc., etc. ... before you spend ONE DIME or hour on something that's not NEEDED/PRACTICAL toward 'problem-proofing'.....

And, well, that's just how "I" see it, lol... Which doesn't really matter if you're seeing it another way, right?

I would want to get it 'SOUND AS POSSIBLE' with what I could afford... then drive it a lil while... See if it grows on me. (that is, of course, UNLESS I wanted a Cummins Diesel or something! hahaha... Then, NOTHING is going to make me 'REALLY' like that particular Yota like I "woulda/shoulda/coulda", am I right? )

thanks chef, ive been thinking all night about it, i just cant deal with getting rid of it, ive gotten to attached to it, gonna give it one more chance, i mean once the new headgasket is in i dont see why it wouldnt be as reliable as it was before i tore it down, i mean i put 1000 miles on it within 2 weeks without a major problem. i just have way to much time and money to give up on it now, i just hope im making the right decision, i really need a realiable vehicle. another thing is once i get the headgasket on, and the new bed on i wont feel ashamed of driving it with a completely haggard bed either. so im gonna drive it and give it another chance, and by then ill be moved to vancouver washington and if i do decide to sell ill be able to sell it easier than out here.
