I've owned this PU for about a year now but recently returned from a deployment so I haven't got to put my own spin on it! I plan on doing a diesel swamp once the 22re goes out but it has
93K on it so hopefully that wont be till later down the line. This is the truck I plan on keeping for as long as humanly possible. To be quiet honest.... I was a Ford guy before and happened to be up
in PHX visiting my girlfriend when I saw this add on Craigslist but once I saw it in person I knew I had to jump on it. The parts you see are going to be Powered Coated here this week so that's why they are off, BUT after taking them off I noticed the weight behind them... easily over 100LBS, what advice to you guys have on alternatives that look and preform just as well? A few of my other questions are....

Who has had luck on replacing the OEM Windshield molding to a rubber gasket?
Is the buying a turbo worth the $$ or should I keep the 22re as "stock" as possible and replace it with something larger down the line?
Is it possible to put the TRD Taco wheels on this with manual locking hubs?
Does anyone know of any high quality vinyl wraps for the headlights/ Tail lights? not that Chinese garbage...

I will be painting the PU white in the upcoming weeks and I'm trying to convert the chrome to black. Any info would be appreciated!

Man that's a sweet looking rig! If well maintained, you'll be waiting a long time to do that swap. I'm nearing 900k on our 86 4Runner. It's dog tired but still uses more gas than oil. A complete color change is a huge task if done properly. Are you doing it yourself? I only ask because a good shop here would charge up to 5 grand to do it. Also, thank you for your service to our country and welcome to YT

Man I miss the days of the ole hobby shop. Our base here at McCoy in Orlando closed when the Navy moved the sub school out of the area back in the early 90's. Good luck with the truck and keep us posted on your progress

They have everything you need and then some. There has been talks of them closing... hope its rumor bc that's where I've been spending most of my time lately. Rates are great too. Will do! Thanks for the reply.

That is a great looking truck you have. I have worked on a lot of 22 motors and very little on a turbo at all. As I understand it a 22rte is built a little different to handle the turbo. Some even use another brand of turbo over Toyotas turbo. I am weak in the turbo area. If you want an increase in power, look into Engblder head and LCE exhaust. Highlux https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f199...k-home-260142/ used these parts and it is the quickest 22re I have ever been in. I really think his truck would give a turbo a run for its money. Shocked me at how powerful his truck is and I have driven numerous 22r/e trucks.

I am retired Army/Navy myself. Really miss my time in the military. It goes by faster then you think. Thanks for your service.

Welcome to Yotatech.

That red is sharp as hell. Why would you paint it white?

The truck looks awesome,I wish I could find an older truck like this but in my area the only thing I've found is a 2002. I guess I'll have to deal with that for now and keep hunting. Love the truck.

I went to Line-X and got the bed liner installed, the other pictures were just from before the bed got sprayed. And don't get me wrong red looks good but it needs a fresh coat and all the chrome you see is getting turned to black so white will look good. Just a personal preference.
