08YOTATACO.WA's 1991 4Runner Build-Up Thread
Hello everyone, i bought my self a 4runner kuz i was tired of getting new major scratches on my new TACO.
Looked around for a little bit and found this on craigslist.
as is, these are the photos next morning
i had to bring it home on a dolly
you will never guess how much i bought it for... $600
Someone messed up the timing when they changed the wiring and the exost was missing.
i changed the timing belt and fixed the timing, started it up.
i needed to pass emissions so i welded on a 07 Ford Focus 2.0 exhost that was kicking around in my back yard. Passed emissions with no problem, but ran in to another problem. the exhost was choking the car, i was shifting in to 3rd on the freeway up hills.
Went to a junk yard, cut out a Chrysler v6 muffler.
Cut back out the ford CAT and muffler and welded in the Chrysler one.
the next problem was the Calipers. they went bad
ordered some new ones from Schuks $45 each and bought new break pads.
front $20 back $13 from Schuks.
the whole thing cost me about $1,000 so far.
next thing i want to do is get a cheep 2.5" front and back lift
and back lockers also for cheep.
Send me some ideas you have on what ones to buy
I also need some i ideas on what to do with the back bumper and a front skid plate
