Still a couple odds and ends to take care of but shes getting dropped in tonight.

Still need to do a final valve adjustment, set the timing and track down codes 5 & 11. Otherwise everything seems awesome with this thing.

Putting these here for quick reference.

5 Open or shorted Oxygen Sensor (O2) circuit

Excellent!

 

Did a little sound deadening while waiting on the machine work. I used peel n seal from lowes.

Had some trouble with adhesion in the doors so i sprayed on a coat of rubberized undercoating to cover up the layer of dust. Easy install just used smaller pieces in the tight spots.

 

Center caps or no? .......Oh Yea, New wheels and tires came in!

Also I'd throw some sound deadener on the floor

 

I vote yes on the center caps. I actually like those better than mine and we have the same style wheels. Who makes those center caps? Mine are chrome from Trail Gear. Sound deadener on the wheel humps is a good idea too. Lots of tire noise comes through the wheel humps.

 

I am not sure who made these center caps. I want to say they are OEM toyota, but they have no markings. They came with a set of generic toyota steel wheels that I have had stashed away for about 10 years. Front caps are factory to fit over IFS manual hubs.

..Stay tuned on the center caps. If I run them I have an idea I think Toyota guys will love.


Sound deadener on the wheel humps is a good idea. I'm just hesitant to go back with carpet in the bed. I tend to haul a lot of stuff including gas that I do not want getting into the carpet.

Currently My plan is to bedline the rear floor pan and then decide if I need the rear carpet.

 

Your engine looks awesome! I like the black center caps, if they were chrome then I'd vote no.

 

Nice looking motor. Did you use the cork gasket on the oil pan or just rtv? Or both?

 

Ended up using just RTV.

My oil pan looked like it had been pry'ed on in several areas, I figured the RTV would work better on a surface that may not be 100% flat.

Just finished up rebuilding the front axle and upgrading the brakes. Do not have a lot of pics of the process as it was a messy job.

Parts:
TG knuckle rebuild kit
TG wheelbearing kits (realized after the fact that wheelbearing races were pitted)
1985 LC60 Vented Rotors
1987 IFS Calipers (off the above parts rig)
TG 1" Master Cylinder (off parts rig)

If anyone is wondering the pads are the same from 1985 solid axles through 1995 V6 IFS calipers.

Also cleaned and painted the AISIN hubs. The clutch was actually not connected to the gear on the passenger side. Hub still worked fine somehow.

Hopefully have this thing on the road by next week.
