Not sure how I ever missed this build! I just finished reading through it all. Excellent job and a great looking truck.

Are you still running the RUF and square front D-shaft? Hows it holding up. I need new springs for my rig and looking into the cheaper option of 63" chevys and RUF.

I am still running them but not without fault. there are for sure down sides to my set up. I have in issue with the front springs not settling the same. I lean to the passenger side. and the front drive shaft is great in the rocks, I have no worries of damage but anything over 30 mph and i feel like i'm in a washing machine.

my plan was for this truck to be an expedition vehicle. reasoning why i haven't bobbed the bed. and gone with a full cage. I drive this truck every day. and tried to keep it low and tamed for the street but able to due laps around JK drivers with 6 times more money in there rigs.

a front 3 link is in works currently. just running the numbers to make sure i can afford to build it my self. but for anyone wanting to save a buck and have a great truck Id suggest my set up. but if your looking for a Cadillac or even a smooth ride, RUF and Chevy's might not be fore you.

Thanks for the advice. I really want to go with 4" all pros in the front but every time I save the money, I need or use it for something else.

I hear you on running laps around the JK's!! I really need to stay focused and continue my build. I get easily distracted. Haha

yes, an HVLP, just general one. i'm still trying to figure out the right amount to thin the paint. i'm getting better but there is some "orange peel" going on. I don't really care to much, I'm mostly doing this to get rid of rust spots. the truck is still for hitting the trail.

Almost the Same Truck

Hello,

The truck I just picked up is very, very similar to yours. It's an early '84 and visually looks the same (well, mine has some rust showing LOL)and probably is very close in terms of original equipment. I'm in Carlsbad.

My goal is to eventually produce an expedition vehicle. However, I'm working off a major project fabrication/build project that will keep me busy for quite a while longer, so I'll be doing small stuff in the near term. I'll be very interested in following your build.

Cheers,

Lonnie
