how did you manage to mess up the sheet metal on the bed where the back is going to be joined? more importantly how did you fix that? the bed i bobbed was kinda hard cause nothing lined up good and it is really hard to fill a 1/4 inch gap in sheet metal.

haha well i was using like an 8" long sawzall blade for wood/metal i was cutting that corner where the bed floor meets the side and the blade punched through and tore the hell outta that. i just pounded it in like half an inch and bought a gallon of bondo
i had the 1/4" gap issue too, i broke the sheilding gas off of my welding rods and welded them in the gap with the mig.
one way i found to improve the gap issue was to tack it together in 4 spots, then run a sawzall blade along the whole cut and it will take out any spot where the metal touches itself, then cut the tack welds and retack it a little closer. keep doing this till its all flush. i just lost paitence and filled it with rods.

 

im starting the lift right now everyone as soon as i drop the gas tank im gonna cut the rearend off so stay tuned.


this is a 2wd bed too there were different ones some had the outter lip and some, like this one, had the inner. i got the 2wd parts truck for free! all it needed was a timing set and new valves so it was my donor motor, red body parts, interior and seats.

nice! this one had new tires too i paid 700 for this and its base model, rusted out, and had a bad motor so id say 400 is a pretty damn good deal. theres no way im puttin an lc motor in it i just spent 3 paychecks to get a late model 22r in there so i can efi it i have dreamt the lc dream though

 

hmm i bobbed two beds they both didnt line up as well as yours looked, prolly cause the 1st one was on a ranger and i used the plasma cutter

oh btw i lost my brakes today so it looks like ive got my next project lined up. theres a little jet stream of brake fluid coming from one of the lines next to the gas tank it shoots about 5' high i must have cracked a line when i was workin on the lift

 

I would throw something on the front of the hangers to make the transition from the frame rail a little smoother, so you don't end up being caught on them or even worse tweaking one while wheeling.

 

yeah good idea i'll do that.
got the bed on. turns out 12" was more than i wanted to go (i had to cut the frame too) but overall i'm pleased with the outcome.

we've got some massive flooding here so my yard is a prime playspot. i'm gettin a decent little mud run goin over in the southwest corner
