I would have the crank machined then buy a good used #4 rod and have it machined to match. You will have to do the block too so you might as well pull it. The block has to be trued up. You could get away with the bottom end for now but I know people that regret it. The head rebuild is expensive compared to the bottom end but way worth the money. Don't forget to get NEW head bolts as the old ones are trash now. TTY Torque To Yield. That means they stretch when you tourqe them down.

Learn from my mistakes. here. good luck that oil pressure spring may have caused more damage than you know just yet.

ive actually decided not to use this motor for the cost of getting the crank and rod machined i could buy an older 2wd with a good 22r like this one http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/cto/916620189.html
Im gonna try and piece together a good motor with what i have i'm using the 85 22r i have with bent valves and dented pistons

Heres how ya make a redneck cherry picker using:
an old fence
an extra truck
some ratchet straps (industrial grade)
1-throw the fence/gate on the trucks

2- attach some ratchet straps and hoist the engine

3- you will want to add some 2x4s so you can reload the reach on the straps

4-hoist the engine jus high enough to get in the truck and drop it on in there.. be sure to get it down nice and secure before transportation

anyways enough of that heres the update on the truck
got the motor out here is a main crank bearing worn down to copper

the crank.. definitely needs replacing its scratched all to hell (for those of you that dont know, it should be a polished mirror finish)

got the motors all disassembled and reaady to go to the machine shop

once the motor is back and in i will start moddin it up soon to come is a lift and lockers

Quick tip on the crank shaft bolt. Get a breaker bar long enough to rest on the frame rail, and then crank the motor. lol it works.

Nice work Al!
