85 SR5 regular cab "street worthy"

bad to good news
Well, I'll start with the bad news first as it leads to the good! I pulled the drain plug on the motor and the ''oil'' started to pore out into the pan. As I started getting all of the tools together to finish tearing it down I noticed a heavy gas smell! So I swiped my finger in the oil that was draining to look at it, I bet 80 percent of "oil" was gas! I pulled a little over two gallons out of the motor!!!
So I figure one of the injectors was stuck open and the PO never knew it. As I started tearing it down I noticed everything was really clean on the inside!(thanks gas) He never ran the motor I figure as all of the bearings were fine. Just a little brass showing on a few of them. Finished tearing it down and taking it the machine shop Friday. Didn't take many pics because of the grease and the wife just wouldn't help.

Yes I am building the entire engine. The machine shop said I needed to bore the motor 20 over, so I'm taking his advice. Hope to order the rebuild kit from Tod or Ted soon! I have most parts cleaned up for the rebuild. Ill get picks up soon!

Parts truck
Thanks J!!! I might get back with you on that!
But............
I bought a parts truck yesterday and only going to use a few parts! I will probably put it on the part out section here soon. If anyone needs something just send me a pm. It's an 86 single cab 4x4, had a blown head gasket and was never finished putting it back together.

The white looks good! The SR5 looks like it's in pretty good shape body-wise. I just picked up my first Yota. It's an 85 SR5 as well. I'm going to be running through it and cleaning up all the little problems to ensure that it's a reliable daily driver. Sounds like we're starting similar projects around the same time.
What's up with your steering?

Thanks Cabot, far from where I want it to be! The steering is just wore out! Walks all over the road, and it is need of an upgrade! I saw your truck looks pretty solid. You should put some more pics of it up on your build thread.. Interior and such

Do you know what condition the diff gears/full differentials front and rear are in? I am looking to get some new or used ones for my 85. I guess I should first ask if you are planning on using them or selling them shouldn't I?
#30
Lol, we can work something out with them! I don't need them
#32
BTW, I like how it looks as if the bars in the back of the donor truck aren't even attached to the truck. The bars look nice, but I don't know if I would need them. That is if you are selling them as well.
#33
So far I'm just keeping the ignition switch, front bumper, radiator, window regulators, and transmission. So, roll bar 50$ sound good? And consider the difs yours 4n. You can PM me if you need anything else

Not sure just yet on the shift boots, I'll look and see what I have and let you know. I may use the shift boot. I'll let you know soon

Definitely on that shift boot. Do you have the metal bracket that it all mounts to or no? I could really use it, but either way I need the boot. I just got some pictures taken of my truck which I will post on here. Two show the holes by the shifters where you can see down to the ground.

pm me bout it
i dont like my warns i want the original red rings
!
