'84 SR5 with OM617
After searching for a while, I purchased this truck last week. My plans are to put a Mercedes OM617 into it (which I have previously taken out of a car). I thought I was buying a non-running truck, but we got it going, so it's going to be hard to take a good running engine out. It says it has 47k miles, but the past owner (owned it since 1990) told me that the odometer would work off and on. I think it probably is in the low 100's though.
There is very little rust, and you can tell it hasn't been in the mud often. It is completely stock.
I thnk it was a pretty good deal for $650.

A little progress:
We have taken the engine out and sold it. Now looking for a W56 trans to go in.
Need some help - we are working on the front end and are going to put some 3" HD springs up front to compensate for the extra weight of the engine. We are also going to install a hi-steer setup on it. Any recommendations for a hi-steer kit and for springs? Most springs are 47", will this require the front and rear mounts/hangers to be moved? Thanks. Will post pics soon.
