Z's 80 SR5 build: Projekt Outlaw

Just got this like Wednesday last week. Traded a rifle for it.
It is an 80 SR5. Blown 20R with a 32/36 Weber. Swapped to W56. IFS rear with an Aussie. Trussed and armored front with an Aussie ,1.5" wheel spacers hi steer and power steering. TG 4.7 single case. TG 4 or 5 springs. Bilstein 5150 up front and 5100 in the rear. And 37'' Military tires. Guy said it had 4.73 gears in it, but that to the best of my knowledge isn't a Toyota gear ratio. 4.37 maybe? Will have to look. Hoping it has dirty 30s or longs in it. But here is what I have for pics right now...

Boy I love these Toyota trucks, but I also REEEEEALLY love my Remington 700 VTR .308! It is cut and crowned to 20" with a trigger job, PTG fluted bolt, Leupold VX-6 4-24X scope and McMillan stock - drives tacks at 500 yards. It's easily my favorite gun in my collection, but I really like Toyotas... The truck would have to be in great shape, and even still I might shed a tear or two in parting with the gun!

Nonetheless, you have a motor lined up yet for that bad boy?

Nice trade!

If that 20r head is still good I suggest finding a 22r block and doing a hybrid.

We have everything for a hybrid setup already. Going to put some money into it bulid a killer motor. Stroked and bored, forged everything, o/s valves, cam, EFI. The works. Just need something to put it in.

Sorry I read too fast and didn't notice you wanted to swap 3.4. Definately more bang for the buck than a hybrid that's for sure.

Yeah, I definitely think so too. I think the hybrid would a great motor for something though. We do intend on building one. Just gotta have the money for the machine work.

Been too cold and windy to do anything without the access to a shop. I've almost got the motor ready to pull along with the tranny. I ordered the Chilkat conversion motor mounts last night and I am going to call Mike out at ORS to see if he will make me a plug n plat harness.

I got the swap motor mounts from Chilkat in the mail yesterday. Called Mike at ORS on Wednesday, discussed with him about what I need for the swap. He said that the standalone harness would work perfectly. So now I need to save up the $ quickly. I should be picking up a tail shaft housing from a 3.0 R150 to swap out on my later R150 so that I can use the adapter plate I have. I also need to find a 23 spline input shaft so I can use the 4.7 t case. I am hoping to have this sucker going before the summer.

We pulled the trans and tcase last night. My buddy wants the W56 for his 80 so I gave it up since I can't use it with the 3.4. I am very close to having the ORS harness money. Should be ordering it before the end of the month.

Nice score!!!
Will be sweet with the 3.4!!!

4.37 were a factory gear ratio from 79 and 80 with the 20r. Not a bad ratio.

I say keep them and run the 3.4!!
