Well time to update. Last night I pulled the front axle and started dissassembly and cleaning. It was crazy all the sand/mud/metal in the housing. It turns out at one point in this trucks life the pinion gear chewed up the carrier and whoever "repaired" it did not get all the metal shavings out. After pulling the axle I found that the pinion bearing was wiped out, so I have to go and get one today. I pressure washed everything inside and out. Then I started the long process of sanding the knuckles, dust covers, and axle housing. Afterwards i sprayed on some rust reformer paint and called it a night. Today ill start re-assembley. Sorry for the terrible pictures....That camera has been run over (by the toyota)...
After i finish with the front axle im going to finsh up painting the frame, then ill be waiting on parts. I should have a set of 3" front springs that i bought from a member on here headed my way soon, and i ordered some rancho 5000 shocks and steering stabilizer. I will probably go the dropped draglink route on this truck depending on how much of a bind the stock draglink is in after i install the lift. Then after hunting season ill repair the passenger floorboards, and start some body work.

All the bearings in the diff need to be replaced. This means i can not fully assemble the axle until it is addressed. I have never set up a differential before, so this will be the first! I took apart the hubs and cleaned up everything in there.

I ordered a master rebuild kit for the front third from Wabfab, and a set of Rancho RS5000 shocks and steerind stabilizer from 4wheel parts. KillerB on here should have some 3" leaf springs headed my way as well. Everything should be in by the time I make it home from offshore. Caint wait to put it all together.

I am at a dilemma....... I am trying to decide on what tire size to go with, 31x10.50 or 32x11.50. My truck has the 4.38 gears so im thinking I might be able to get away with some 32's.... also I am planning ob restoring the factory steel wheels but I can not make up my mind to use them or the aluminium wheels I have (pictured above). When I get the front axle back under it I will have some 3" lift springs under it. Any comments/suggestions?

That rust reformer paint you used turned out really good. You got the brand and where you got it?
I seen a truck the other day with with 33s and looked good and was wondering about gearing.

It is the Rustoleum brand rust reformer. I have used it in the past on arc frames and racks and it works fairly well. It dries a flat black color. On my axle after sanding I sprayed 3 coats of the rust reformer and 3 coats of clear. It came out pretty good I think. I got mine from Home Depot.
