ditch the sway bar not worth it... and I think sky jacker sells a bracket to re fit the track bar or you can cut and extend it

I been driving the truck a good bit.....Everything is goin good so far. Got the sway bar hooked up. Still have not hooked the track bar up yet. Been driving the truck 50-55 mph. With 30x9.50's according to the speedometer it tops out at 60 mph...lol... Prolly could go a little faster, but im not the brave yet...lol..next step is the passenger floorboard. Im also in the process of taking the winch apart for a little service. (Warn M8000)

Glad to hear you are driving it. Also so good to hear you found your wobble. That could of been a bad thing. Congrats on getting to drive it again.

Just a little update..... Ive been working on the truck when time allows (newborn baby). I put some 2.5" blocks on the back of the truck for now to level it after the 3" springs up front. Right now im fighting a charge issue and a rough idle. I also found out the #4 cylinder spark plug has been cross threaded. The plug tightens up, it just does not seat. And im having some sort of clutch issue, and i dont know how much longer the L43 is going to last. It will engage as it should some times, then i push the clutch pedal all the way, and it will engage early. If i pump the pedal it will help. It may be air in the line, or a slave cyl. i guess..The shifter so so sloppy on the transmission its not even funny. I have to work it into first..We will see. On a side note, Even with lower compression in the #4 (gas blows out due to the crossed SP) i can still get the truck up to 65 on the highway. Just takes a little time to get there.

With a newborn I dont think it is when times allows to work on it, but when you can get some sleep.lol.. I think they have an internal alarm that goes off every 2 hours. Congratulations.

Luckily I havent had to deal with a cross threaded spark plug, but dont they make a helicoil for that? Maybe that could be a reasonable fix for you.

I have the bed, but its in rough shape. Its yours if you want to come get it...lol...Yea mine came with a Warn M6000 on the front waiting to be all cleaned up.

On the floors, i used 14 ga. steel on the flat pieces, and 22 on the pieces i had to bend/shape.

I feel your pain on the newborn thing. I got a 2 year old and a newborn coming anyday or minute! Your on the right track with your clutch issue. Pull the lil rubber boot back on your slave cylinder where the rod goes in , If there's oil in there then replace your slave. If its dry look at your firewall inside cab below the master cylinder , if it's been slowly leaking you will see a trail of oil or a oily boot that covers the master rod. If its dry try adjusting your master cylinder rod. Your pedal should only have 1/8" or so of slop when you wiggle it up and down in your hand. If there is more than that loosen the 12mm nut on your master rod under dash and spin the rod (counter clock wise)to take up the slack in the pedal. What your doing is making the rod longer and giving it more throw , which is gonna make the clutch ingauge more which will make it easier to get into gear and pedal won't be releasing on the floor. If you have any questions feel free to pm me. Also davez off road sells new shifter seat and cup which will make that shifter feel new again for about 10$.

Well i figured id give a little update, no further progress on the truck. Just been playing around on the property. I sold my '83 and '86 turbo parts trucks. The 5 peed went with the '83, so i guess ill be keeping the 4-speed in the '80 for longer than expected. The guy that bought both of the parts trucks made a offer on mine. He has a '85 ex-cab SFA, the truck originally came with a 22Re, but he replaced it with a 22R. Has a 6" suspension lift with new 33x12.50's. I would have had to give him all 3 of my trucks plus $800 to cover his new tires.....I declined, if he still had the 22RE in his truck i would have jumped on it, but oh well.....Recent pics!

Im thinking of selling this rig. Caint make up my mind. A part of me wants to keep it, build a flat bed, put new tires, and ding another engine..... but another part of me is craving the sound of a cammed v8 under the hood....
